Question about Frigidaire Affinity 5.8 Cu. Ft. Super Capacity Electric Dryer

Dryer not coming on (code "dr")

My dryer suddenly stopped working. Once I close the door, I am able to choose the setting. When I then go to pust the start button, I get a double beep and "dr" shows up on the display. I must say that the door was loose for a long time, and we were slamming it to get it to shut tightly. The last time it worked and I opened it, there was a spark that came from the door. Lastly, we already reversed the door. Please let me know you thoughts and if it may be a problem I can fix. If I can't fix it, what is the best way to present it to the repair man so he doesn't try to rip me off.

Many of the washers and dryers that use digital control have door switches. A non-working (damaged) door switch will prevent the appliance from working. Look up online for a manual for your appliance and see what they show for your unit. If you get the diagram on how to dismantle it to replace the switch you can see if you think you can handle that task.
Then look online for the parts, and compare the cost with your local suppliers.

I just replaced such a switch for a friend. The switch cost locally was $109, but I found a new one online for $45. It took about an hour to change out the old for the new.

SOURCE: Error code DR

Pull the tech sheet out of the dryer ( behind the lower front access panal ). The lights flashing are trying to tell you a fault code.

A copy:

MODEL DIFFERENCES: • Better models have a digital readout display
• Good models do not have a digital readout display
READING ERROR CODES 1. Position cycle selector knob to the 3 O’clock position.
2. Press and hold the Select and Pause Cancel buttons simultaneously for six seconds.
3. Immediately after, press and hold the START and Pause Cancel buttons simultaneously for 4 seconds.
4. Rotate the cycle selector knob to the 2 O’clock position.
On better model dryers, the error code will appear in the digital display. On good models, the five indicator lights of
Drying, Cool Down, Wrinkle Rid, and Clean Lint Filter Spin will flash the number of times for the first digit of the code
and the START indicator light will flash the number of times for the second digit. Take separate counts of each indicator
light, then repeat to confirm in order to be accurate in identifying the proper error code. The code is obtained by counting
the number of times the lights flash. Example E24: The five indicator lights would flash twice indicating the 2 and the
START indicator light will flash four times indicating the 4. The five indicator lights and the START indicator light start
flashing at the same time. The control will pause for 2 seconds, then repeat the code.
Note: A letter appearing in the code stands for a number higher than nine.
A = 10 B = 11 C = 12 D = 13 E = 14 F = 15
Example Code E4A: the first digit would be 4 and the second digit would be 10. If this code would appear on a dryer in
the Good model line, the five indicator lights would blink four times and the START indicator light would blink ten times.
Troubleshoot problem by using chart below.
To move on to the next code, press the OPTIONS button. To clear code, press the Select button.
To exit this mode, simultaneously press and hold the Select and Pause Cancel buttons for six seconds.

SOURCE: Fridgidaire Dryer runs constantly when plugged in

You have a couple different options. One is to check the timer and make sure that it is working correctly. Second thing is to check the computer and the fusees to make sure all is well.

Wont turn

The model number listed above is for a refrigerator. It sounds like your belt broke or the Idler assembly failed. Not very much in parts cost. You will have to take the dryer apart to fix the problem. It is a minor problem and usually worth repair.

Drum wont turn.pust start and hear a buzz but drun wont turn

I have found that the switch activated by the door close or turns on the interior light when open on is likely the problem. You may notice that if the door is open and you push the start button, it will buzz. So if the door is closed and you get this buzz when pushing the start button, there is a problem with the door switch. The start button "thinks" the door is open, and therefore not start. The defective door switch needs to be replaced. At least highly likely.

Fridgidaire dryer aeq6000es. won't start, beeps 3 times with error message dr

This code means the dryer door is not closed or the door safety switch is not making a good connection at times. The dryer door safety switch is in the opening of the door and when the door is closed the switch button is depressed. If the control circuit board doesn't get a signal that the dryer door switch is closed it will not allow the dryer to start.. Try firmly closing the dryer door a 2nd time when this happens, if that cures the problem you are good to go, if that doesn't cure the issue you must remove the front panel of the dryer and replace the switch. If you need a switch they are available from Sears Direct for about $15.00 Below is a picture of the switch that most likely used in your model and make, the button on top is what the dryer door depresses when closed..

Hi and wlecome to FixYa, I am Kelly

There are several things that can cause this.
1. The door switch Item 6 of link:
Listen for an audible click as the door is just opened or closed. No click = failed switch. Alternate means of tesing is with a meter. Switch plunger depressed = continuity
2. The thermal fuse Item 10 of link:
This is a non resetable fuse it either reads continuity or open. Open = failed
3. The pust to start switch has failed. Item 12 of link
4. Failed timer Item 7 of link:

Items 1, 2 and 3 above are the most common failures in the order listed.

Wiring data can be found here:

My dryer shown dr on the display. why is this

Hello. This is an open door circuit code.Either the door isn't closed completely or there is a problem with the latch switch, could also be a main board problem.Try to start it on an air fluff setting (no heat), if it runs on this setting the door switch is ok but something else is wrong.
