there is dirt or sand in motorized lens turn camera on and pop battery out before lens goes back in. Use a lens cleaning cloth and wipe all the outside of the camera lens well I also use a can of air and blew the three rings of the lens.I had to do this two times but now the camera works great
If the camera has recently been dropped you may have lens damage that
is preventing it from powering up. If it hasn't been dropped your
problem
may be due to weak/worn out batteries or corrosion on the battery
contacts inside the camera which can
prevent the full power of the batteries from flowing into the camera.
Try this free fix before you do anything else: remove the batteries and
wipe the camera contacts firmly with
a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush,
steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment during cleaning, then wipe both ends of
the batteries and place them back in the camera and give them a full
charge (assuming that you are using rechargeable batteries). This
cleaning clears
the problem about 90% of the time. If it doesn't work for you, your batteries may need to be replaced or the
camera may have
a problem that requires professional repair.
Two possibilities. One you need a new battery, and two, the more likely is that you need to clean the battery compartment terminals. Take a Q-Tip and dampen it in rubbing alcohol, don't soak it. Take the Q-Tip and clean the three contacts inside the battery compartment. when you're done blow gently inside to dry it out. Do the same to the battery, and the charging station.
Everytime I try to turn it on, the lens comes out for about a second,
the camera beeps 3 times, the lens retracts and the camera shuts off.
The battery is completely charged and the camera is only 4 months old.
HELPP :(
Try removing the batteries and memory card. Let the camera set for awhile. Put the batteries back in but not the memory card, restart the camera. Does it work know? If it does, turn the camera off put the memory card back in. Turn the camera on, does it work now? If it doesn't, replace the memory card.
Ok everyone.......if your light is blinking while it's charging that means you have a battery error and need to call techincal support and they can possibly replace the battery for you if it is a certain model and within their time frame of replacement.
Usually beeping and then shutting back off means that the lens has sustained some kind of damage and it is just a matter of time before "lens error" shows up on your screen. The only way I know to fix that is to send it into repairs or an authorized service center if you are out of warranty.
The lens mechanism has had a knock at some time. Check out the makers support site for a repair price. Likely you will be buying another camera when you see the price quote
