Wireless Router RG54G2

HI, I'm trying to access the Web Browser control panel for the above router using the default password, but it does not accept the password (any ideas, apart from the obvious as I can't remember having changed the password at any time) ? Many thanks.

Assuming you have tried without typing a password; try admin or password or router admin. You can reset the router by a hole recess normally at the rear of the unit using a pen tip and push it in for 5 seconds or so.

How do I reset my password?

Step 1:
Wireless networking is a common feature in homes and offices. Wireless routers provide access to a single Internet source, and wireless passwords ensure that only select users can access the network. If a password is forgotten or lost, the password can be recovered or reset by accessing the router's Web-based settings menu. Most wireless routers also have a reset button, which is capable of returning the router to its default settings which includes resetting the password.

Connect to your Wi-Fi or attach your computer directly to the router with an Ethernet cable. Open your Web browser. Enter the default address of your router. The default address is listed in your user manual or on the product website. Linksys and 3Com routers typically use "192.168.1.1" while Netgear routers use "192.168.0.1." Enter your username and password. Many routers use "admin" for the username and password by default. Locate the wireless security settings. Disable the wireless security. Reset to Factory Defaults Locate the reset button on your router. Typically the reset button is a small indented hole on the back of the device. Insert a long thin object such as a paperclip and hold down the reset button for 30 seconds to revert the router to its factory default settings. Locate the wireless security settings and add security as necessary.

How to change password

to change the password, assuming you have not changed the default administration passwords point your browser to "192.168.1.1" Once there you should have a login screen. linksys default is "administrator" AND "admin" as the username and password. Here you should have access to the full control panel. You can change the wireless password as well as any other settings.

Need to change my password how do i do that?

Hi,

Welcome to Fixya. If you want Password on your router you need to access the Wireless Settings Page. To access the router page you need a working computer that is connected to the router. To access your router you need to use a computer that is connected to it. Open a Browser then type 192.168.0.1 or http://routerlogin.net. The Default username is admin and the password is password. Password is case sensitive.

Go to the Wireless Tab select Wireless Security under the Security Mode you will see there Network Key or Passphrase. The Network Key serves as a password or security code on your network to make it secure.

Thanks for using Fixya.

Router will now accept my security code to connect my wireless components, using one given to me by tech, how do i find out without paying dlink 40 dollars

  1. Open your D-Link router's control panel by going to the IP address http://192.168.0.1/ in a web browser. You will be prompt for a password. If you did not setup a password on your router, the dlink default password is usually blank. Enter admin for the username and leave the password blank or enter your password.
  2. Click on wireless and under security. There you will see your security key.
  3. If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response.
    Thanks, Joe

I have a 2wire wireless router but i've had it hooked up to my airport express as the wireless router. How do i get the 2wire to function as the wireless router? only the DSL light lights up, not the...

Since the Wireless light is off, lets assume that the access point is just switched off.

That function is switched on and off from the router's control panel accessible via web browser. And you can follow these steps to get to the Wireless configuration control panel.

Open this URL from your browser

http://gateway.2wire.net.

If you have a system password enabled (and it's asking for it) but you didn't set it, or you forgot what it is you can click the

can’t remember the password

link if the password hint does not help you. In order to reset the password, you'll be asked to enter a 10 digit code which you can find on the bottom of the router itself.

Once you're able to gain access to the control panel, you'll want to
  1. click the 'Home Network' tab
  2. click the 'Wireless Settings' link
From this panel you can make changes to how the wireless access point portion of the router is configured. By default your router's wireless should be on, but since it's not I'm going to assume at one point in time someone turned it off so it wouldn't get confused with your airport express. If you just want your wireless settings back to the default settings
  1. click the 'RESTORE DEFAULTS' button
Then the wifi settings will be set to how they were when the router was purchased. By default the access point is secured by WEP encryption, and the key is located on the bottom of the router by the Serial Number.

Ipod touch - wireless connect to my MSI RG54g2 router

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, to your queries:
  • instruction book - pls click here;
  • passwords - open a browser, the MSI RG54G2 web interface is 192.168.1.254, password is "admin", less the quotes;
  • iPod touch - will auto detect your MSI
  • setting on my router - if allows your computer(s) to access the Internet, no further settings required;
  • iPod can connect to the internet - if no WEP or WPA is set on the MSI router.
This is of course assuming that the MSI RG54G2 is allowing your computers to access the Internet lready and will be shared to the iPod Touch.

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa. Happy Holidays.
