Question about Mitsubishi WD-62531 Projection Television

1 Answer

I have a Mitsubishi WD-62531, it is almost three years old and has gone through 5 bulb. Is there something I can do to make this bulb last longer? Is there something that I can check that may be causing it to fail. Reading posts found from a Google search it appears that this bulb only last about a year anyway. Just looking for some help.

The biggest enemy of bulbs like that is heat. Make sure the fans are running and are clean. Make sure the fan stays on for a while when the unit is turned off. Other than that there is little you can do without adding a fan or other modifications.

SOURCE: mitsubishi wd-52628 flashing green timer light

If the power/timer led is the one blinking constantly
the most likely problem is two 3300 mfd caps and 1 to 8 1000mfd caps on the power board.
could be the DM board or caps on it as well.

Check to make sure your lamp is not blown.

Make sure you installed a Mits original, and not a generic.

Make sure the lamp is seated and secured properly, as slight movement can cause a loss of connection.

Slide your set out to the side and peer into it through the slats. Can you see the lamp fire on?

Your symptom does not indicate that it could be a problem other than the lamp and the installation thereof, however---there is an instance where 2 capacitors will blow on the power supply and cause a red lamp light to show. Furthermore, the light engine itself could be causing the problems.

But, since you just installed the lamp, I would look over your installation.

The lamps can burn out if you suddenly lose power (and the lamp does not cool via fan). This can cause lamp failures and possibly other failures. Also, if the fan cannot get air sufficiently (from the filter (on the back of the set) this can cause thermal overload and other thermal failures. Be sure all cooling fans (yes fans) are functioning and free of dirt.

Mitsu wd 62531 colors are rather dark. Any solutions

check you brightness level , if that does not fix it it sounds as if you may need to replace the bulb, you can get just the bulb or bulb in housing, if you are the least bit handy save the money and just buy the bulb, be sure not to touch the front of the bulb as oils on your skin can damage the new bulb or at the least shorten its life, this is easy to do just fallow the directions in your manual

Does any offer a longer lasting bulb I replace it once a year from Mitsubishi

The normal usage time for lamps are 6500 hours, thats a little under three years depending on the use of the television, These lamps last longer when they are not turned off and on all the time. The constant heating and cooling prematurely wears out the lamp, also on Mitsubishi lamps have a filter on their lamps that geta cloged with dust from the exaust fan, causing heat to become traped in the lamp compartment which will cause the lamp to blow premautrely, using a compressor try cleaning this filter every 6 months or so for longer llamp life.

Mitsubishi WD-62531 Replaced lamp 2 weeks ago. Red light flashing again. Same problem but the lamp is fine. Sound but no picture.

You have either a bad ballast (it powers the lamp) or a bad DMD board. Either one of those will result in a no lamp fire issue. Have a technician look at it...

Mitsubishi tv model wd-62531 less than 2 years old

It sounds to me like your bulb has burned out. Look behind your TV for where the bulb housing is and pull the bulb out to check if it's burned out or not. You'll know when you look at it if it's toast.
