Wrist watch shortening

Look at the inside of the band and there will arrows pointing what direction the to tap the pins out to remove links. Put the watch on a small roll of tape or something similar that keeps the band off the surface you are working on. Gently tap the pin out with a tool that will fit in the pin hole. Remove the pin and determine the number of links to remove. Remove the links and reverse the order in which you took it apart .

How do I shorten the mtal band on the Casio 4334. The back of the band has direction arrows but I cannot understand how to move the links. Can you supply me with directions and an illustration to assist...

Push the pin through, in the direction of the arrow. I used a thin paper clip and a pair of pliers. Poke it through by about 3mm and then grab it and pull it out.

Shorten the band on a Mossimo watch

Thank you for contacting FixYa.
  • Place the watch face down on the cloth. This will help keep your watch from being scratched.

  • 2

Examine the links closest to the buckle. These links will have small pin holes on each side of the link, as well as a small arrow engraved on the inner side of the band. These indicate the direction the pins must be removed.

  • 3

Place the driving tool (a thumbtack will work) inside the pin hole in the band and push the pin out in the direction of the arrow. Remove the pin carefully from the other side.

  • 4

Repeat Step 3 to remove any links needed to adjust the band properly.

  • 5

Reattach the band to the buckle. Attach each end of the buckle back to the bracelet, driving the pin in the opposite direction from how it was removed (opposite the arrow).

  • Best regards. Jewel

Have a watch band with slot and arrow on one side need to shorten

The arrows indicate the direction that the pins punch out. Its possible that it has tiny little sleeves that put pressure on the band which hold the pin in. Take it to a reputable watch repair shop...they can assist you with your adjustment! :-)

    Fossil AM4200 shorten band

Depending on the age of the watch you will see indicators of pin direction on the inside of the band. Little arrows that point the direction the pins should come out. If there are no arrows you can look at the edge of the band. You are looking for a split in the pin that makes it look like a screw. The opposite side will be solid. You want to push on the side that is solid so the side that looked split comes out. This is a cotter pin and the split side is bigger and needs to come out first. Use a small punch to push the pins out. Make sure you take links from the band evenly on either side.

Help with removing links from a Calvin Klein ladies watch

There must be something wrong as ALL watch bands are held together by pins or screws. Did you try to unscrew them? These might be screws instead of pins. And if these are pins, they MUST come out because there is NO other way to shorten the band.
I would advise you to find the watchmaker, not the jeweller, and he/she will be able to sort things out.
P.S. Not all the bands has pointing arrows on them, so, no worries about that.

Do not forget to rate, please.

Purchased fossil ladies watch am4183 at Macy's, stainless steel band is too big, is this band adjustable, if so how.

Check the sides of watch band and you will see the pin ends. They are holding all links together. If there are arrows inside the watch band, they are pointing the way the pins must come out.
To shorten the band you have to:
    Extract the pins.
    Take link(s) off.
Join the rest of band together and drive pins back.

    Shorten watchband

I have a similar watch and removing the links are not easy. There are pins in certain links that have arrows on the inside of the band. I used a push pin to remove the pins in the direction of the arrows. Snip the end of the push pin with a wire cutter or pliers so that it fits into the hole and tap the top of the push pin with a small hammer until the other end of the pin is exposed enough to extract it with a set of needle nosed pliers. Repeat for other side of link. When the pin is extracted, twist the link inward and it should snap out.
Remove the link and reverse the procedure, placing the pin in the opposite direction as it was extracted. You may have to tap it gently with the push pin and hammer to get it to go into the holes flush.
It takes a little while and some patience, but if you can get someone to hold the band for you while you tap the pin, it will be easier. Also, if you remove the spring loaded pin from the band fastener so the band can be laid out straight, it will also be easier. Good luck!
