Projector powers on but no picture.

My Infocus LP70 and LP530 projector powers on but there is no picture. Initially when I plug in the projector the green light is on, so I press the power button. I could hear the fan come on but no picture. Then the green light turns to a blinking green light. The bulb is brand new. What else can it be?

After a few minutes the green blinking light turns into a orange blinking light. Overheating?

  • Anonymous Nov 15, 2007

I plug my infocus L70 in, the amber light is steady. I press the power button to turn on & the light turns to a steady green. There is no lamp or projected image at all. Then after about 15 seconds, the steady green light begins to blink off & on. Then, after another 20-30 seconds, the light goes steady again. This repeats over & over again. The fans run continously & you can hear a faint, soft clicking sound when the green light goes from steady to blinking of & on. Any ideas?? I am thinking the lamp is bad but, I know nothing about these & I hate to spend big bucks on a replacement lamp, only to find it still doesn't project an image. TY in advance!

I have the exact same problem. The projector worked fine 2 days ago and tonight I went to turn it on and the light changed from orange to green steady. YOu could hear the fan turn on and everything seemed normal, but then there is a click and the light changed to green flashing.

    Help me!!

My Infocus LP70 projector powers on but there is no picture.
Initially when I plug in the projector the amber light is on, so I
press the power button. I could hear the fan come on, thelight inside from the bulb comes on, but the picture is too dim to show on the screen.
Then the green light turns to a blinking green light. The bulb is brand
new. I tried another lamp, same thing. What part do I need?

This seems to be a common problem. I just bought an InFocus LP70 secondhand and the first time it went fine but now when I push the power button, the LED lights green, the fans go but the lamp won't light. The unit then cycles from solid green LED to blinking green LED every 15-20 seconds. And yes, there's that faint clicking noise like a relay switch when it goes from blinking green to solid green and vice versa.

Sometimes I hear the DLP wheel start to spin up (high pitched noise like a fan powering up that gets higher and higher) and the bulb lights then it goes back to sleep again a few seconds later (high pitched squeak comes down in pitch then stops as the DLP wheel stops). Other times it struggles like this for a whle then just comes on and everything seems fine (except for that shadow in the lower right corner that everyone complains about). Any suggestions?

Depends on how many times the orange light blinks also when you replaced the lamp did you do a timer reset? you can find alot of information on how to trouble shoot this www.infocus.com/support

if the orange light blinks once try reinstalling. if it blinks twice then you need to reset the lamptimer if it blinks three times it may be overheating and check to make sure your fans are turning. and if it blinks 4 times its a board error

I have a Boxlight CD850M which did the same thing when I first bought it and burned out my 1st light.
Turned out I had to send Boxlight/Infocus the projector and they upgraded the software level of the machine. Jeff

Mine does the same only it has a brand new bulb, my bulb life was over 1900hrs and it went out so we figured the bulb burned out and then we installed the brand new sealed in the box spare bulb and now get the constant orange blinking light and nothing responds on the panel

I have a Infocus Lp530 that as soon as you plug it in, all the lights on the top will continually flash green and an audible clicking sound can be heard. These two things occur before the power button is...

You can try removing the main board & reseating it. Also try plugging into another outlet & make sure the plug has a ground prong on it. Itshould have 2 flat & 1 pin shaped prongs. Otherwise the clicking sound may be the lamp trying to ignite. Normally when you plug in the LP530 the green power light is on steady & then you press it to start the lamp. If its flashing as soon as you plug it in it's likely that the main board is bad, the button board is bad, or the ballast/power board is bad.
You should remove the lamp & inspect it. It should be clear without bulging in the little bulb behind the lamp glass. I service LP530s all the time & something like that is usually the main board.
Good luck,
Jim

Light does not come on, fan is working and green light at top keeps blinking off and on on a LP70 infocus projector

if you hear a high-pitched whir, the problem is either the ballast or the lamp. if you don't, it's the colorwheel. you could try to get the parts from an infocus service center or send it in to them for repair. either way, try av solutions in ny. they're really good. www.avsolutionsny.com

LP70 Infocus Projector light will not start up

if you don't hear a high-pitched whir, the colorwheel needs to be replaced. if you do, it's either the lamp or ballast. if the lamp is new, replace the ballast. you can get the parts if you want to do it yourself, or you'll have to send it in. either way, try av solutions in ny. they are an infocus service center and they're really good. www.avsolutionsny.com

Wont light up

the colorwheel needs replacing. if the colorwheel won't spin, the lamp won't light. if you hear a high-pitched whir, the colorwheel works, which means there is a power supply issue. there is a fix for that, but you have to be good at soldering. if you are give it a try: http://www.infocus.com/service/asc/communications/tech_notes/2006/09/tn495g.pdf

Infocus lp530

I called InFocus and was walked through several steps to determine if it was a bad cable or an internal problem. My InFocus unit would power up and stay powered up with no problem until I connected it to the computer using the analog computer cable (blue connectors). They had me try it with a different computer and then with the S-Video cable. Each time the InFocus unit powered down within seconds of connecting to the computer. The problem is internal. The unit had to be sent to InFocus for repair ($180). If the unit works with the S-Video cable then your problem is a bad cable.

Pile of ##@!#@ infocus lp70 green light wont come on. should i smash it??

if the fans aren't running, it's the power supply. if the amber is on and the button's won't turn it on, there is an obstruction under the button panel. if all turns on but the lamp and you don't hear a high=pitched whir, it's the colorwheel. if you do, it's the ballast.
