Acer Laptop Does not power ON At All!

Model: Acer Aspire 8920G
Model No.: LE1
DC Rating: 19V-------4.74A
OS: Windows Vista Home:
Manufacturing Date: 2008/04/07
Bought Date: May 2008

In never had any problem with my laptop from day 1 when i bought my
laptop. It just happened so sudden just yesterday, when I removed the
plugged and shifted to another position, while my laptop's still running.
Unknowingly when i plugged the ac again, i notices my laptop was off,
now putting the ac plug again, however it never turned ON at all, no signs of life, no LED or light indicators at all. I tried removing the plug and turned ON again, same thing happens. These time I tried to remove the battery and put the plug, same thing, no power supply at all, no signs of life at all.

My laptop is normally plugged 24 hours a day, in which I seldom switch
off the laptop, maybe once a week, and the good thing about these model is, it doesn't heats up, it has it's in built powerful fan, so it doesn't require me any external fan.

Which bothers me is, it just happened so suddenly without any signs.
It is still on warranty, however, according to them (acer) they require
10 to 15 days to fix my laptop. From which i won't be able to wait that long, since I'm using my laptop everyday for my part time jobs, that's why I need it back badly.

Please kindly help me on these issue, I Need My Baby Back!!!!

Kind Regards,
Dennis M

I have the same problem with my Acer Aspire 3050, MFG date 5/2007. Same thing - I am not one charge/unplug constantly. And, just about a month ago I had this same problem the power cord will not recharge it - it is like it doesn't make a connection. I did finally get my husband's HP power cord to charge it, but I may have fried the battery in doing so. I have only had this laptop a year and since it is our 3rd computer (meaning I use my desktop most of the time) my Acer is used very little. NOW WHAT? I could understand it if the cord was consistently removed - daily - and then plugged back in, but this has not been the case with mine. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Either the laptop has gone bad or the power supply has gone bad. You could buy a universal power supply at Best Buy, test your unit and then return the power supply. Not very moral thing to do but it will tell you if its the supply or the laptop. If it is the supply then you'll have a spare.

My acer 8920G doesn't shut down, but restarts

Did you upgrade or totally reload the os from scratch? Usually improper shut down sequences are caused by corrupted os.

The Brick is the external power adapter, My acer uses model # ADP-60XB 19V X 3.16A= 60 Watts
Yours I believe is also a 19V but I believe the amps are 3.45 making yours a 65Watt power supply ac/dc adapter.

Test the voltage, if your unsure how, take it to Radio Shack and have them do it.

You can use any generic power supply which will give 19V at at least 4.5A. IIRC there are a number which do 19V at 5A available from any largish online electronics retailer (I'm in the UK so I don't know who in Canada would be good for this). I presume by pci card you mean PCMCIA (now often called simple "PC"). No, you don't need that to boot it. However, if there is a card missing from the back of the machine, that's a little worrying - PC card slots are usually on the side. There are a few laptops which really do have a mini PCI slot but that also doesn't normally need anything in it for the the machine to boot.
