Errror 1706 problem

STEP 1 Uninstall the Norton product in which the error occurred Before you continue, make sure that you have the installation CDs or downloaded installation files for any Norton products that you want to reinstall. 1
Click Start > Control Panel.

Double-click Add or Remove Programs.

Click the name of the Norton product. You may need to use the scroll bar to view the entire list.

Depending on your version of Windows, click Add/Remove, Change/Remove, or Remove, and follow the prompts.

Restart the computer.
STEP 2 Run the Microsoft Windows Installer Clean Up utility 1
Download the Windows Installer Clean Up Utility. DOWNLOAD

Click Save to download the Msicuu2.exe file. Save the file to your desktop.

If you see a prompt, click Close.

Double-click the file and then follow the steps in the Setup wizard to install the utility.

Click Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up to run the utility.

Press and hold down the Ctrl key, while you click all entries in the list that begin with the following text: - CC - cc - Norton - Symantec - Sym - MSRedist

Click Remove.

Restart the computer.
STEP 3 Reinstall the Norton product that you uninstalled 1
Do one of the following:

• If you purchased a CD, insert the CD into the CD-ROM drive, and then click Install Product Name, where Product Name is the name of your Norton product.
• If you downloaded your copy of Norton product, double-click the file that you downloaded. Unless you saved it elsewhere, the installation file is on the Windows desktop.
