Question about Washing Machines

Whirlpool LSQ9500LQ0 will not drain water

I have Whirlpool LSQ9500LQ0 washing machine, it will not drain the water. I have already changed the timer, problem is when its done watching and its time to drain the water it doesn't drain. The sound of drain starting comes for 1-2 seconds then stops. Looks like a water pump issue but i am unable to access water pump cannot open the back cover. I don't see any screws. Any help on opening the back cover would be great or even a service manual.

Thanks in advance.

Access to the inside on this washer will require taking off the whole cabinet.

1. Remove two screws on the back side and on each end of the control panel.
2. The whole control panel will then pull forward then flip it back out of your way.
3. There are a group of wires coming from the control panel going down to a single plug, unplug them from the main cabinet.
4. Remove the two large brass colored clips on each side.
5. You can now remove the whole cabinet.

The water pump is in front and secured only by two clips top and bottom.

Kenmore topload washing machine that wont switch to drain

This assumes that you have a basic Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive, neutral drain (it doesn't spin until the pump removes most of the water) machine.

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:
http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action

Enter your model number (###.#######) and you'll see a list of major sub-components with diagrams and parts.

Then, see the Whirlpool / Kenmore Service Manual for top load, direct drive washers.

https://secured.whirlpool.com/Service/SrvTechAdm.nsf/2cd44500d572193285256a45004fd9d6/f7e2147fa98b28cf85257122007475cb/$FILE/L-55.pdf

Normally, this would appear to be a Lid Switch or Neutral Drain problem BUT since it is re-filling , it sounds like a Timer problem.

See the Service Manual for how to test / replace the timer.

Washing machine fills, but will not agitate, drain or spin

Coupling broken which joins the motor to the gear box. Look and see or listen if the motor is running then if nothing else is working coupling is broke, easy to replace.

Whirpool Washer LSQ9500LQ0 Won't Spin or Drain

Your belt assessment sounds correct on the dryer problem.
If you can, restore the lid switch connections, and operate the switch during what should be spin. You should be able to hear a relay or solenoid clicking off and on with the switch.

Whirlpool Washer Won't Drain

Did you replace the timer motor? The little motor attached to the timer that moves it thru the cycles. Also, I would check to see if the water level switch might be stopping it after the wash/rinse cycle. I've attached a URL that will show you the various components. If you need more help, feel free to post.

Whirlpool AWO3761 stuck mid-cycle

The cycle doesn't advanceWhen the cycle doesn't advance, it's probably the timer or a cold-water supply problem:

  • It's the timer, if your washing machine fills with water and begins agitating, but the timer never advances--or if the washer is in a spin cycle and the timer won't advance. Then you need to replace the timer.

  • It may be a cold-water supply problem, if the washing machine fills with water, agitates, drains, and spins, but then doesn't fill with rinse water. See There's no cold water.
