Question about Toshiba Qosmio G25-AV513 Notebook

Open Question

I am getting an amber light instead of green light on two identically configured Gateway 500C CTO Desktops. The Power supply is a "160W Pwr Sply - P/N 6500582" and I am running Windows XP Pro, SP2. I have exchanged the cords between each other and still same response. Every once in a while, when I plug one in and it works fine. I originally thought it was the video card but I was able to update it and all the drivers, to no avail. I don?t want to purchase every new component as yet. How can I test weather or not I need which new component?

    I also own a Laptop, but I am asking now about my Gateway 500C CTO Desktop. Almost all of your solutions are for Laptops. Do you have any for DESKTOPS? I did not notice that they were using "My Products" in the submission of this question...

Obviously your Power Supply Unit is dead. You just have to replace it.

Computer will not start up?

Sounds like an electrical issue make sure you have power to your computer then test your PSU or just replace your PSU

Sleeps and won't wake up. unblug pwr supply won't shut down properly. when pwr supply is plugged back in, monitor like comes on blue then amber like in sleep mode. Nothing shows on monitor. ctrl /alt/del...

Needs a techie toolkit disc to run HDD regeneration scan then try the repair mode in your install disc, (2nd repair mode)

Emachine t3418 no video pwr sply goes and that's it no boot

If you have a desktop system and it is in a no power state, I'd replace the power supply (Or if available test with a known good) before I'd replace teh motherboard, Power supplies normally fail 1st

Is the light more amber or more green? If you push the button and it goes amber, then you probably have a bad power supply. Try getting another power supply to test. If that doesn't solve the problem, then you probably have a bad motherboard.

160w is a very marginal power supply. Have you added any hardware recently? Anything you add draws more power. You can test the memory. Take one stick at a time out and see if there is any change. Better yet try some different memory. You might disconnect everything that is not essential for the computer to operate (CDROM, Floppy drive, sound card, network card etc. Try to boot with just the hard drive,memory, graphics card and motherboard plugged in. That is the minimum to run the unit. Your new graphics card is probably drawing more wattage also. If this 160w supply has not quit yet, it will, probably sooner than later so get a new one.

500c CTO will not boot

check the RAM, processor etc, disconnect all the hard drives and check the on/off controllers on the board

Blinking Green power light

Unplug the power cable and press and hold the power button for several seconds to discharge the system. Then allow several minutes before reconnecting the power cable. If the problem still persists, it may be a failed power supply.

Power supply/ no output voltage

Actually i haven't fixed the problem as yet but i did find some info that would help me to fix problem.
I went to google and entered keyword,,, Electronic parts,,there came up a page,,and i went to several manuf sites till i found a replacement transformer,,then i disassembled the power supply and am now waiting for a replacement transformer.
