Packard bell easy note tj65 will not power up

the short cable running from the power button to the main board has probably snapped where it passes over the RH hinge. remove the screen surround to gain access to the power on switch area and check. it would seem to be a common fault with the packard bell

The battery died when the power adaptor was plugged in. The light to show the battery was being charged was not lit but the light on the power supply was. I am guessing its the battery. I have had some...

Just check the Battery diagnostics if you have the software installed...If it is there then it will be in Start - Help & Support - Troubleshotting Tools - Battery Check.......If it shows the battery needs to be replaced contact Packard Bell...Since you told me that the A/C Adapter is not functioning and after you wiggled the lead it started functioning then if the battery test passes you will have to ask for a new A/C Adapter...
