When you get to selection mode...hold down the clock function and the try the up/down buttons and see if they respond to the clock hour or minute commands. Try other buttons if no results. YOU REALLY CANT HURT ANY THING DOING THIS.

Kenwood KRC 535 - Faceplate stops halfway when turning off unit. When unit on it will play music, but nothing lights up so you don't know what you're listening to. Also cannot change station. ...

There is a fine ribbon cable that links both the main unit and the face plate. Due to the constant movement of opening and closing some of the conductive tracks develop cracks. That is the reason why when it closes half way it looses contact and the motor stops turning. The display illumination track must have completely broken.
You will need professional help to replace it because its a little complicated to access this ribbon cable. Will cost you about 15$ plus labor.

Can't adjust the clock of my kenwood krc 585 car stereo

I accidentally discovererd how to do it...after pressing the 'menu' button several times you will finally come up with a screen saying 'clk adjst' or similar. Once this screen is up, press the top navigation button (one of the four nav buttons above the menu button) for several seconds until the clock appears and the hour is blinking. Use the same top button to advance the hour. Then use the right nav button to advance minutes. Then hit the menu button again to save. You may need to experiment a bit but be patient. I had the unit switched on, with the display showing FM stations when I discovered this. Good luck !

I have a KRC 585 car audio unit. Power getting to player but it will not switch on.

Try finding a solid ground and make sure theres not only a hot lead but also an ignition lead. If that doesn't work, you might have to a stereo shop look at it. Wait until best buy offers a coupon, usually every 4 months.

I forgot the security code on my kenwood car stereo. Is there a way to reset the code? I bought it like 10 years ago its a kenwood krc 508s. Please help. Thank you.

I read this on ecoustics forum:
You could try this:

When you are asked for the code, press and hold the 'AUTO' button and "Next Track" ">>|" for 3 seconds till the (----) disappear.

Now take the remote control and Type "KCAR" with the number pad.
PRESS "5", "5", >>| (NEXT TRACK) you should have a "K"
PRESS "2", "2","2" >>| (NEXT TRACK) you should have a "C"
PRESS "2", >>| (NEXT TRACK) you should have an "A"
PRESS "7", "7", you should have a "R"
PRESS >>| (NEXT TRACK) and hold for 3 seconds

If successful you will see 'Approved' and the stereo will go to standby screen

Good luck

If there was no spark and wires hooked up wrong in the first place, your player should work if you find the PWR lead and the Remote lead and ground. Then speaker wires +) and (-
