Make sure you have plugged-in the power adapter.
If not turning off afterwards, then either your battery
really empty or it just need to be replaced.

If it still turned off, then its not your battery's fault :)

Try running an external virus checker that runs from your USB port or CD/DVD drive. I think that you may have picked up a Boot virus or you may have a corrupted Bootstrap file.

Dvd player won't play disc

The DVD read head may need to be cleaned. Sometimes perfectly OK drives also fail to read certain discs. If the problem is persistent, i.e. the notebook won't read any discs, then clean the head (with a head cleaner) and try again. If it starts working, fine.. If not, then you may have to replace the DVD drive. If the problem is only related to playing one particular DVD, then its the DVD that is faulty.
Hope this helps.

TOSHIBA SATELITE 215 NOTEBOOK HEATS UP.

One quick and easy fix you can do is to go get a can of compressed air and blow out the vents and fan area under the notebook. Sometime when there is a lot of dust in them they overheat pretty quickly and shut off. Just like you said happens.
