The speed depends only on the wireless chip, its antenna , all in relation with the router's chip - some are more sensible than others so differences in performance even higher that what you have are pretty normal Actually some chips can be incompatible with some routers so you're lucky, you still get some traffic.

I have a 2wire modem and in the DSL Connection Details, the Downstream Rate is 6016 kbps but when i do a spead test on the internet , I only have 2.5 or so kbs? I would like to know if there is a setting...

Are you sure that the speed-test is reporting 2.5 Kbps? Could it be 2.5 Mbits/second?
Have you closed all other network-using applications (Limewire? Windows Update? Adobe Updater?)

Note that some DSL-providers have different levels of speed, for different monthly payments,
e.g., $20/month for 512Kbit/second, $40/month for 1.5Mbit/second, and $60/month for 2.5Mbit/second. Pay your ISP more per month to higher higher speeds.

When i start Axis and Allies the screen flashes for about 15 seconds and then an error screen comes up that says that "the game tried to turn the resolution to 1024/768 but couldn't so it changed it back...

When I try to play Axis and Allies cd-rom '98 it's like the screen is too small for the game because there is no buttons or anything that allows me to end my turn. My monitor is pretty big too.

How to make my DSL faster by higher speed?

I would start by looking at the wiring in the house (from plug in the wall to the Demarcation line) make sure that is high quality wire and good connections. Then move to the Phone Co., get them to inspect the local loop wiring for bad connections/wire. Then move to FiOS (fiber optic technology), this will produce some amazing speeds, but you have to work with the phone co. or move to a faster technology such as Frame Relay, ATM, or ISDN, a burst asynchronous comm is your best bet.

RE: router problem

You're welcome. anything to help out.

I'm sure you still have the phone filters installed.
So,
Run a speed test from here.
Then, compare it to the speed that you're paying for. For ex., you might be paying for a 1500 Kbps download and 256 Kbps upload.

If any speed (upload or download) is lower than 50 Kbps, call your service provider and tell them that you are not receiving the reasonable speed you paid for and that you have already cleaned your "cache" (they will suggest that you clean several files from your computer but that does not affect your speed).

Thank you for responding. Its rare for people to respond to helpers.

3 PC's networked to BEFSX41 very slow accessing internet

sounds like your internet access is the slow down, not the router. You don't say if you have DSL or CABLE or what.  I'd check there. Make sure you are getting a strong signal.  Hook up one system directly, without the router and check the speed.
