Not so generic. Either you have to push out small needles in the direction of the arrows that are marked on some links (use a blunt sewing needle to do that), or you can proceed as shown here:

Hope that helps

I need to resize a watch band for my mother. It is a stretch band with links

I suggest you take it to a watch shop (decide how much shorter you need it before you go - or take mother and watch to the shop).

It is very quickly done when you know what you are doing and have the tools!

Resize DKNY 1035 Wrist Watch band

Could be a number of different ways. Some newer watches have multiple clasps that make it easier for you to adjust it yourself. Check the bottom of the band for extra clasps.

Without seeing the watch I have no idea what type of links you have. I suggest taking it to a reputable watch repair shop and have them adjust it for you! It will save you the frustration of having to search for a small screw or pin if it should fall on the floor!

Kenneth Cole Watch 3574 pin in length has broken

are you talking about the band pins or the lug pins? most watch repair stations will have lugs and pins, and will replace for about $5...any more and you will be getting ripped off. Lug pins are a pain and unless you have the proper lug tools, you can end up scratching the finish of the watch...be careful!

Changing a Rolex metal watchband to a leather watchband

Put the watch face down and examine the point where the band is connected to the watch case. you will find two holes and through them you will see sprinbar ends insertyed into watch case lugs. Take the tiny screwdriver and push the springbar end inwards, then do the same at the other lug reaching them through those holes.
Then repeat the same at the other end of the band.
Measure the distance between watch case lugs- this will be exact size for your new leather band.

Rate me, plesae.

I need to replace my leather watch band for timex watch. Is there a special trick for fitting the springs onto the watch?

First put the pin in the bottom lug of the watch ( the pins is in the band already). Then take a small flat head screwdriver ( found at Radio Shack, or any electronics store). If youn can, take a small file and file out the inside of the flathead so that it looks like a "U". put it over yhe pin and press down as youslide the pin into the lugs hole on top. If you can't cut the srewdreiver out, just take the flat side of it and press down on the pin and push in accordingly. Without "U" shaping the screwdriver, it may take a few tries. Good Luck!! If you still have problems please let me know!!
