Question about Motorola Talkabout T5700 AA (22 Channels) 2-Way Radio

1 Answer

Blank screen until I press menu

I turn on one of my T5700 radios and I get a blank screen. I have just put new batteries in it. The only way I can get something to show up on the screen is to press the menu button. I can't figure out what is wrong with the radio.

How do I get the FV300 to power up

Hold the power/menu button in a long press to turn the radio on/off. Once the radio is turned on, this same button acts as your menu button when pressed a short press.
You can find a copy of the user guide at shop.giantintl.com/Manuals.asp

The battery may be dead. If it was indicating it was charging for 48 hours and still did not work, you can be pretty sure it will not charge again.

T5700 and T9500 con speak between them?

Directions for programming the T5700 can be found starting on page 18 here http://www.giantintl.com/RadioPDFs/Outdated%20Manuals/T56XX_57XX_User_Manual_E.pdf

Directions for programming the T9500 can be found on page 1 under the heading MENU OPTIONS here http://www.giantintl.com/ContentManage/manuals/Moto/T9500%20FINAL%20-%20English%20only%20all%20rights%20reserved%20and%20call%20center%20email%2004-24-07.pdf

These two radios have many similar features, but some which differ. For best results leave all the special features such as Qt filter, call alert, and interference eliminator codes, turned off or set to zero until you get the radios to function in a basic mode on just the same channel as one another. Then once you've found what works, you can experiment adding special features, if desired.

Best regards.

Radio cuts out (screen goes blank) when you press "talk" button

You are correct, the battery is bad. When batteries begin to fail, they may appear to hold a full charge, but when put under a load they fail to maintain the proper power to fully power the radio. Generally you will notice screens going blank, poor or no transmit, etc. Simple solution, replace the battery. New batteries are available for around $30 (US dollars).

Motorola Talkabout T5700 and Audiovox GMRS 1582CH don't talk

Hi,

Most radios of this series would have Interference Eliminator Codes. The codes eliminate other incoming transmission not with the same code (number). There could be similar radios working on the same channel/frequency, but if they do not have the same code then neither one would hear each other. This does not make a channel "private", rather it limits what one can hear on that channel to another radio with an identical setting of the code. In some Motorola models, pressing the Menu button until the small numbers/code flashes would enable them to be changed. To change, press the + or - keys. Pressing the MON key or setting the code to Zero would enable the radio to receive and sound off all incoming signals with or without the code.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Motorola T5950 led screen

Typically a blank screen indicates you are using a bad or defective battery. Try the battery of another radio in this unit and see if the problem still exists. There is no function to shut off the display screen, so it is apparent you have either a battery or radio problem. Here is a copy of the user manual: http://www.giantintl.com/ContentManage/manuals/Moto/T59xx_User_Manual_E.pdf

I have a problem

Hi,

Normally in a Motorola T5700, to set a specific channel to monitor (and reply to) called your working channel, you press the Menu (center) button and the current channel shown in the display will flash. Press either the + or - buttons to change to your desired channel number which should be identical to both radios. Press the PTT button to save.

Likewise, both radios must have identical Interference Eliminator Code. To set code, press Menu till the code display blinks. Press + or - to select code. Press the PTT to save. To disable the code, select 0.

Hope that this be of help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Well have you tried putting brand new fresh batt's in the unit? If they are rechargeable they may have simply discharged or if "normal" batt's they may just have gone flat.
