Picture-in-picture (PIP) not working properly on toshiba ct 9946

Cannot watch 2 pictures at the same time. All features of PIP seem to work except displaying different channels. The smaller PIP screen activates properly but I only get the main window that I am tuned to. When I attempt to change the main window or the PIP channel the screens become filled with snow. I am following the directions outlined to use PIP from the owners manual. I have cable and I set the toshiba remote to "cable" as indicated in the operating manual. All other features of the toshiba work properly and the cable channels work properly although the only way I can change channels is on the remote provided by the cable company and not the remote provided by toshiba in the "TV" setting on the remote. Perplexed. Thank you.

SOURCE: Toshibe 36AFX61 36" TV

I uncovered the problem. The "analog tuner" seems to have gone bad. The part is $25 -$36. The set can still be used however. I just removed the coaxial cable from ANT 1 in the back of the TV (this is what I believe has become defective)which was going to a VCR. I then just used composite cables(red, white, yellow)to bring the signal directly to the TV from the cable box, rather than the VCR. All works however, will replace the defective part.

convergence problem in your TV is caused by a faulty STK #### IC this IC is the one responsible for controlling the the color allignment(convergence)There are 2 big STK ic on your TV and they are mounted with heat sink .Replacing this IC requires a little know how on electronics.there is also some components to check (resistors)before replacing the IC I would suggest to ask the help of technical people to do the job but if you still want to do it your self let me know and I will give you step by step procedure...just post back!

How to split my screen on my 60 inch LG plasma TV? My wife would like to watch a show while I play my PS3 at the same time?

Unless the set has a PIP feature (picture in picture) you cannot do it.

PS3 would be hooked to one input (selected for PIP) and tuner in set for the main picture.

How to program pip on my vizio

PIP (Picture-in-Picture)
Picture-in-Picture is a feature which allows you to watch two different signal inputs simultaneously, when
selected.
Press menu, go to set up (the wrench icon). Drop down one to the button and highlight the option.
Press the button to activate the PIP feature, which will bring up a display showing Style.
Press either the or button to select it to be either PIP, POP or OFF.
Press either the MENU key to return to the previous menu display or the EXIT key to return to your
program if task has been completed.
If PIP is selected, then you will have the options of selecting the Input (Refer to PIP mode on page 60 of
this manual; for different combinations), Size (The size of the little box to watch the second signal) and
Position (Where you want to place the little box with the second signal).
If POP (Regularly called Picture-by-Picture) is selected, you will only have the option to select the Input
as the screen will display the two different signals side by side; each one occupying half of the screen.
Using the AUDIO key allows you to select which audio

2 screens

You're talking about picture-in-picture. Simply hook up a second source or split the one cable input you have now into two leads with a splitter from somewhere like Radio Shack. Then bring up the PIP and select the input. Now you have two different things to watch each from their own channel. This wont work if you have dish... But you could watch the DVD perhaps if you hook it into one of the available inputs in the back of the Tv and select that input in PIP mode.
Good Luck!

No picture in picture regardless of any way I wire the tv HELP

Thank you for providing the exact brand and model number of your product.

What it is: PIP lets you watch a second program in a little window. More-elaborate versions can resize the window, move it around the screen, create still or multiple still images, or simply divide the screen into two same-size pictures, often called "picture-outside-picture" (POP).

dfbe858.gif
What it isn't: PIP has a dirty little secret, though: If you use an external tuner such as a cable box or a satellite receiver, you can watch only one program at once. If some of your channels are unscrambled, you can watch those on the second window, and you can usually watch other sources such as VHS or DVD on it, as well. But even with two-tuner PIP, a single cable/satellite box will prevent you from watching two live scrambled channels simultaneously unless the box itself has two-tuner PIP.

LG 42 inch Plasma Picture in Picture with SKY satellite service

PIP only works off two seperate signals, eg you cannot watch 2 sky channels at a time, you can watch sky tv and then your analogue channel using PIP or freeview, you can then swap which is to be viewed as a large picture and which is to be viewed as the smaller picture or half and half.

Pip and pop

It sounds like your other TV had 2 tuners which allowed you to watch 2 programs at the same time. You can still watch two programs, but the second one will have to come from a second source. See below for the possible combinations that the PIP/POP feature can be used by this TV.
