Tilt of monitor seems to be frozen

I can't move the angle of my LG l222wt. I use fairly strong push but stays at positive 20 degrees i.e. tilts upward.

My problem is physical with the stand and the screen.

  • gene786 Dec 26, 2008

The problem is a physical one. The screen does not tilt when I mechanically try to change the angle of the screen so that it can tilt forward at -5 degrees.

I looked up your monitor on a few forums. It appears that the adjustment is a problem with it. Does the owners manual tell you how far the adjustment is supposed to tilt? That may be as faer as it goes, My samsung isn't much farther than that. Good luck

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, pls try lift the monitor slightly while retaining/pinning the base flat on the table. Due to its weight, the monitor is resting solidly on the hinge that allows the monitor to tilt. The monitor has to get out of this max position even just slightly before it would revert to easy tilt adjustment.

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa. Happy Holidays.

Hello Gene,

The driver of the monitor gets buggy sometimes and this might be the problem in your case. Right-click on my computer->click properties->Hardware->Device manager. Right-click on your monitor and click uninstall. Then re-install the driver and it should be fine. Please post back a whether it worked so that we can provide you further assistance. Thanks for using fixya.

May be some thing stuck inside.not a big problem.but if it does not move don't apply much force to it,as it can damage it.try to remove the cover surrounding it and check whether something like paper or dust is inside.clean it and try.thank you

Can you bypass the tilt recline mercury switch on pronto m 91

The mercury switch for the TRSS (tilt recline single switch) is a mercury switch with a molex connector on the end. The switch opens and closes depending on the angle of the chair with mercury or a ball closing the contact.
Yes, you can bypass this switch, I do it all the time when it fails. Follow the wire from the black torpedo shaped switch. Unplug the switch at the white molex plug eliminating it from the circuit. Inspect where it was plugged into and observe the female contacts in the molex connector. Take a paper clip and bend it to shape inserting it in the two female contacts, shorting across them. This, in effect, acts like a closed switch. Tape up this connection with tape to hold the paper clip in the connector. Use the same tape to secure the connection to the chair.
When you replace the mercury switch the new ones that are available are the new ball switch type. The mercury has been removed due to environmental concerns. The angle of this switch when installed should provide drive lock out at the factory specification of 20 degrees tilt. Mark the position of the old switch and wiring before removal. It is usually easier to get to this switch by removing the chair seat pan first. Adjust the angle of the new switch (about $70) on installation. You may have to cycle the tilt up and down several times to accomplish this, testing for drive lockout at 20 degrees.
You can safely drive the chair until a new part is obtained but remember you are defeating the safety feature of the drive lock out in tilt by bypassing the switch. When you are tilted back too far you can tip over so exercise caution when going up ramps and inclines. Hope this helps.

Monitor facing ceiling want it to face me sitting upright

mcdevito75 here, You should be able to hold the monitor at the 9 and 3 O"clock position and simply use your hands to tilt the monitor to it"s desired position, look for any Locking type knobs on the back of the monitor Not the monitor itself but the base, the part the monitor is attached to, if so Loosen knob--s just enough to move monitor then re-tighten when done.

Our viewsonic monitor tilts forward. how do we tilt it back?

Hello again.
The ViewSonic VG1930wm has a height adjustment range of 3.2", TILT capabilities, and a swivel range of 360 degrees.
So yes your monitor should be able to tilt back and forth.  Most likely if you hold the base of the monitor, and press somewhere on the front at the top or bottom (do not press on the screen itself) then it should easily tilt back and forth.  Occassionally there is a switch you may have to hold while you push on the front-top/bottom of the monitor which acts as a lock for the tilt angle.
Hope that helps, and don't forget to vote/rate!
Height adjustment range 3.2", tilt, swivel range 360º

Screen tiled and i can't move it back

Try reseting the settings to factory defauts in the monitors user menu. You can get more details from the manual on this.

If reseting the settings doesnt work. Could you take a photo so we would have a better understanding of the problem :-)

Or do you mean the screen is fysically tilted? If parts are broken and you are unable to move the screen, then I cant offer much help, you could contact acer for support or to take it to a local pc shop for analysis.
