have a old rca television with a build in vcr. connectec a cable box remote works only for volume and channel but power button does not work, with remote was set and stop working call cable company and was told to contact rca to recieve codes for television
Hi,
I cannot be sure of the exact model but... Press and hold the TV's volume up and volume down buttons simultaneously. On many older televisions, this opens the device menu without the use of a remote. Otherwise, use the menu button, which you can navigate in a similar fashion.
Also, somewhere should be an input button. Press it multiple times times to switch between various inputs (the input must match whatever input you are using). Usually after these menus are opened you can use vol up vol down to change things.
Turn on your TV (or other device). You will have to do this manually until you program your Philips remote control
Look for the "Setup" or "Code Search" button on the Philips remote control. Which button your remote has will depend on the exact Philips remote control you are using. This button may be a different color or may be labeled.
Hold either the "Setup" or "Code Search" button for about 10 seconds. If your remote has a light, the light should begin blinking. If there is no light, you can just count to 10 and then let go of the button.
Press the "TV" button on the remote to program the Philips remote to your television set
Find and press either the "Up" or "Down" channel button on the remote. Continue pressing either button until the television channel changes. This may take several minutes. Once the channel changes, press the "Power" button on the remote to turn off the TV. Your Philips remote will now be programmed to your television.
you might try going to channel 00 If you cannot just dial the number 00, go to channel 2 and then channel down. Does not always work, but without the model number of the TV it is hard to advise further
I have the same model TV, also without a remote. I found a Philips universal remote model CL019 at Big Lots and it works just fine. However, for some reason when I tried to program in the channels it would only program in up to channel 23, and then after about 15 seconds add channel 60. Can anyone help?
I had this problem with my TV/VCR combo unit (Samsung CXC1972) after losing the remote while in the dorms. I tried a few different universal remotes and dozens of codes before I tried the Philips 3 device universal remote as pictured below with code 037 programmed into the VCR/DVD button. I can't change the volume with this code but the input key switches between line in and tv. You can also change the channel, access the menu and operate the VCR functions with the code. I bought the remote for less than $10 at Walmart so it might be worth a try, and if it doesn't work you can always bring it back. Hope this helps.
