Question about Samsung PCL541R 54" Rear Projection Television

No picture, sound OK...setup menu shows up, able to get picture in PIP

Hello, the problem I am having with my TV is that there is no picture but there is sound. I am able to get a picture on my PIP (picture in picture), but none on the main. However, I can get the menu screen to work on the main. When I power on my TV, the red power light blinks and blinks, then finally turns off. When the TV was working properly, the red light would blink while it's warming up and would stay on when the picture is on the screen. I tried unplugging the TV for a while and when I plugged it in, it worked for a minute or so and blanked out again. I visually checked the fuse inside the TV and it looks fine. Please advise, thank you in advance!

Tv has no picture. Sound works fine. Please advise on what might be the problem. Would it be the picture tube or another part?

  • Anonymous May 03, 2008

Sound works fine. The picture on the main screen will not show at all. The channel indicator, however, does show when I change the channel. The problem began when the Television started flashing in and out of picture during use. It finally blanked out for good and has been this way for nearly a year now. It has been checked for brightness and unplugged, which many suggest should be done. Still no picture. Any suggestions?

You will need to check the inputs on the television. You more than likely have a bad video in signal. This can be a bad cable or a loose connection either at the input of your television or at the output from your receiver, (cable or satellite). First, try wiggling the cable and then try replacing it. This should fix the problem. If not, your signal may be routed through a stereo or other switching device?

Set would seem to be either in PIP (picture in picture multiple mode) or the black box might be the TEXT feature which is found in the closed caption menu.

How to setup pip

You should first enable the PIP option from the settings before you can use the PIP button on the remote. To do this press the "MENU" button on the remote, navigate to the "SETUP" option, Select the "PREFERENCES" option, select Picture/Sound preferences, select PIPFORMAT and turn it on. That should do the trick. Once enabled you can use the same menu to adjust the position of PIP etc.,

Should you have any further queries be sure to let me know.
Sai.

Hello; I am John at J. D. Electronics, Poland Maine. This problem is very likely caused by SAP selected on your remote control. Make sure you have selected Stereo or Mono in the audio menu. You can find all of this in your owners manual ( which you can probably download if you don't have it). Good luck, John

Sony Trinitron XBR TV, picture-in-picture got

A solution I found for our KV-32XBR200 was to press Setup on top of the set, then select the "Demo" item with TV/Video. The text overlay apparently banished PIP. Verified this twice, as I'm at this page because our remote can only turn PIP on :-).

This sound like the standard Mitshubisi PIP board problem. There are two ways to adress this one is to repair the board, this involves replacing surface mounted capacitor and is about %80.00 sucsessful. The other is to simply bypass this board. this option is the way to go, it involves installing two capacitor on the main board and fixes the main pix but kills the Picture in Picture (PIP) I will send off both these repairs to your E-mail

No pic or sound

The TV is in some kind of protection mode, the blinking LED show you an error code.
Try pressing 062596 and then press menu button (do these in quick motion, don't let them to time out while keying)...see what happens
I also heard that this problem appeared with some people because the of the burnt fuse in the TV. To fix that it has to be taken to the tech shop. mecry.gif
And yes I also heard about this issue many times, seems like this TV set is very popular with this kind of problem.
