Can drive five miles with cold air and then warm air. stop car and will blow cold for another five miles. have charged ac
I would replace the AC compressor cycling switch it may be sticking have seen it a number of times. The switch is located in the receiver dryer on the passenger side of the engine compartment. See picture below.
If this isn't the problem the AC compressor relay may also cause this, flip a coin.

Your problem is the air temp control blend door actuator is defective and not controlling temp u set. to change/access this part the dash assembly must be removed from the car.
SOURCE: AC not blowing cold air at times
poss causes are, sticking low pressure switch, defective Ac compressor clutch closing coil or incorrect clutch driven plate air gap, spec is 0.26 thousands.

You might try changing the cabin air filter if your car is equipped.

It is a door or flap that is closing, in fact it is the blend door located inside the environmental station, remove the lower console cover, small black cover at the center bottom of dash touches the floor, look for a white square box with an electrical connector, take out the 3 screws that hold the white box (stepping motor) in, use an inspection mirror and look at the door drive end (part that the stepping motor inserts into) this is the blend door drive, it is probably broken, the door is availiable at most Ford dealers for around 55 dollars, tp replace it, you will have to remove the whole dash complete with the instrument cluster, radio, enviro controls, etc. then you can remove the top of the enviro station, and replace the door, hope this helps, let me know....I just had to do mine.

When they refilled the refrigerant did they put die in it to check for leaks, it sounds like there may be a leak.
