I hope you still have the CD that comes with the Laptop, you need to run the set utility automatically, otherwise there's likely much problem if the hardware needs bus driver too..(audio bus controller) if not there's must be incompatible driver, such as you installed Xp's for Vista, etc... If this isn't the case, try to install the driver from the Device Manager, instead of running the setup..You can also download the driver from the link provided below.. http://www.driverstock.com/Acer-Aspire-3690-driver-download/4-21-12862-93868/index.html
If you still need help, please let me know.. Good luck..
Turns on boots on acer page to 75% then goes to windows XP then a blue
page with some writing that's so fast I cant' read it then back to Acer
page again and so the cycle continues. Tried F2 got nowhere, tried F8
last known good configuration and safe mode but neither helped. Safe
mode didn't boot. Any suggestions, if I need to update BIOS how do I do
that - was suggested on another site.
your computer needs a fresh slate. insert the operating system cd's/cd and restart the computer. follow the on screen instructions to install a fresh operating system. make sure you back up your files first. thank you for using fixya
I have the same computer and I done the very same thing. Do you have the recovery disks that it came with? If so you need to take a paper clip and open the drive by pushing the paper clip the small hole in the cd drive door.... If you cant get the drive door to open. Try running your disks from 1-7. This should at least get you to the BIOS. Set your Boot order to where the 1st line says from CD drive. Then you should be good to go to factory settings.
If that does not work if you have a 98, Ultiamte Boot Utility, Vista Bootable CD, They can boot your system and format your hard drive whatever you want to do. You will lose all your data but at least you will be able to use it.
did you try booting with just the power cord in (battery and all other devices disconnected)
if it boots then put in battery and make sure its charged. then try the video recorder wit out any other devices connected
