We have daylight savings time in California and the tomtom doesn't change the time. Shouldn't it change it's time when it connects to the satellite? It should correct itself.

No it will not automatically change you will also noticethat on longer trips where you change time zones while travelling you will need to change it automatically when it updates from the satellite it will only make adjustments to minutes and seconds

just to clarify the satellite does not recive information from your unit it only the satellite only is used for your unit to determine the location you are at by seeing multiple satellites and calculating the time it takes to get respose from each it is then able to calculate distance from each and formulate where you are there is no real communication with the satellite

How do i change the time on my Tom-Tom

To select the time format and to set the time, follow these steps:
  1. From the main menu, tap Change preferences.

  2. Tap Set clock.

  3. Select how the time should be displayed and then tap Next.

  4. The easiest way to set the time is by tapping the Sync button. Your navigation device will then take the time from GPS information.
Note: You can only use Sync if your device can receive a satellite signal, so you cannot set the clock in this way when you are indoors.

  5. After using Sync to set the time, you may have to adjust the hours depending on your time zone and the daylight-saving time.

How do you set the time on a c340?

Question: The time is not correct on my StreetPilot. How do I set it?
I think one of these 2 may help you.... --> Answer: The GPS unit acquires the time from satellites. Therefore, to display the correct time, the StreetPilot first needs to acquire satellites. You can then set the time zone and daylight savings time.
To set the time zone and daylight savings time:
  1. Press the Menu button two times.
  2. Select System Setup.
  3. Select the Time tab.
  4. Select the time zone and daylight savings preference.

MY NEW TOMTOM HAS WRONG TIME. ONE HOUR AHEAD. HOW DO I RESET THE CORRECT TIME?

Tap changes preferences on the main menu
then you can do set time or set units depending which model you have. You then set the time zone and the unit gets the time from the gps satellites and display it with your local time zone changes.
You may just have to set or enable DST (daylight savings time ) if after setting the zone/time it is still out.

If you don;t have can;t find your manual you can get a pdf version free from tomtom. Just go to www.tomtom.com and click on support and then look for user guides. You may have to set your location/country-language before you can get to support. Then just download the manual which you can read or print using a pdf reader ie a free one such as adobe reader. The time stuff is covered under the preferences area on the manual.

How to set the current time.time did not change when we turn the clock back one hour.

either your 1440 was never set to include daylight saving time or the unit was reset at some point.

the time is automatically set once you choose your time zone and if you observe daylight saving time, you must check that box..

go to the main menu, then system option and click on the time zone tab, then select your time zone and check off the little box for daylight saving time.

Change the time on the magellan roadmate 1212?

I was in same situation with a magellan roadmate 1212. From what I can tell, the "daylight savings" is not what many of us may be accustomed to... that is, that it means that the location you are at follows daylight savings as happens with Windows or many other devices.

I bet those in Arizona never had a problem becuase they don't follow time zone... let me explain....

The daylight savings seems to state "are we currently under daylight savings time?" if we say yes (as you would normally state in your Windows computer setting (that would determine when daylight starts and stops and adjust pc time accordingly), the magellan 1212 instead will "ADD" one hour to the time stated by the Satellites regardless on whether it is summer ... or not.

So, if you happen to live in a time zone that follows "daylight savings" and you currently are under "daylight savings" time, then set it so in the "time zone".

So, there are two things you have to do:

/menu/user options/system settings/time zone/

1)Set your time zone
2)If currently under Set/unset the daylight savings set button to yes and manually move to no when not on DLS.

The explanation I found in MagellanGPS website is below, but never mentions what is the meaning (I should say effect) of the "daylight savings" button checkmark.

Magellan GPS receivers are not able to set the Time manually. In order to have the correct time set on your Magellan GPS receiver, you must set the proper time zone you are located in (ie Pacific, Central or Eastern). Once the time zone is set the exact hour and minute will display as information is received from the satellites. The following information will assist you on setting the time zone on your Magellan GPS. For Outdoor Triton series 200, 300, 400, 500, 1500 and 2000
  1. From the map screen press Menu and select View
  2. Select profiles and press Enter
  3. Select hiking and press Enter
  4. Press the Page/Go To key once and scroll down to select time zone
  5. Press Enter to select your time zone and Enter again to confirm.
  6. Press ESC repeatedly until you return to the map screen.
Note: Make sure Daylight Savings is adjusted accordingly. For Vehicle Navigation series Maestro and RoadMate 1200-1430
  1. From the map screen select Menu
  2. Select User Options
  3. Select System Settings
  4. Select Time Zone
Note: Make sure Daylight Savings is adjusted accordingly

TomTom has difficulties locating satellites.

Download the latest software tomtom home and do a gpsquickfix. THis will solve the problem and tell the unit where the satellites are for the next 7 days. May need to do gpsquickfix often.
