Bad checksum means the file is corrupt or your BIOS is out of date.
You can be sure it is the BIOS if it is happening on different files.
please let me know the machine make and model and I can help you check the BIOS?

Blue screen on start-up saying 'stop: c000007b bad image' etc

Errr...sounds like fun.

OK well I would stop trying to get Windows back in working condition until after you backup your files.

The easiest way is to remove the hard drive from the system and place it into a usb enclosure.

Backup the files and then reinstall windows.

If you try the band-aid method you'll just end up wasting your time.

Hope this helps.

STOP: c0000221 {bad image checksum}

You most likely have bad RAM. If you have two chips, pull one out and run the laptop on a single stick. You may need to alternate the sticks just incase the non-working one is the one you left in the laptop.
