Question about Coleman Air Conditioners

1 Answer

Pilot won't stay lit

The furnace keeps going out if the little door where you light the pilot is closed. We have changed the thermocoupler twice and after a week or two this happens again. Can see smoke coming from the flu.

Either you are haveing a backdraft situation or your furnace heat exchanger is cracked, What I woulc reccommend is to have a professtioal service technician checkout your furnace for a cracked heat exchanger. Thanks.

Furnace and pilot will not stay lit

The tube is gas supply for pilot. You have to make sure the thermocouple is in the flame at least half way and make sure its tight in the gas valve. There should be a small silver plug on the gas valve near the pilot supply tube. You can pop the cap and adjust the height of the pilot flame a little. Can you tell if it has a flame rod in or above the flame? If it does You can remove it and clean it with steel wool.

Hi, with a new thermocouple, the only other thing it can be is the valve. Replace the valve.

Pilot light will not stay lit; replaced the thermocouple, still no work. Replaced the W/R gas valve 36C04-222 on my Trane furnace. Still not working. any ideas? Could I have gotten a bad replacement valve?...

Trane unit ,same White -Rogers gas valve. I have replaced both the gas valve and the thermocouple . Have agreat robust blue pilot while the button is pushed in , let go and the flame does not stay lit . I checked the milly D C volts and have better than 20 . Is there a problem with the new gas valve or the couple not generating enough volts or is there a safty I do not know about that could be open ?

Pilot light wont stay lit.want to clean the orifice

You shut off the gas.
Shut off the power.
Remove the gas valve and burner assembly.
After cleaning and reassembly you must purge the system and use a gas leak detecting soap to verify no leaks before turning on the power.

Can't find instructions on lennox gf 8 series furnace

Does it have a standing pilot light? On new units, there is an igniter and not a pilot. But if you have a standing pilot, you will move the gas valve to "pilot" and push down the red button while holding a flame under the pilot located by one of the jets. Once it lights continue to hold the button down for a minute or so and then release the button. The pilot should stay lit. Then turn the dial to the on position. That's it.......... If the pilot won't stay lit then the thermocouple is bad and needs to be replaced.

My rheem quiet 80 ignition flame keep going out. it'll turn on and then go out.

I have a Rheem Classic 80 furnace that would ignite but not stay lit. Cleaned the ignition sensor which was easy to get to and the flame sensor which was under the burner plate and it fired up and stayed lit. The flame sensor was about 6" under the burner plate. Easy to get out, but tough to get back in. Used the old piece of paper shim trick to get the screw to "stick" in the socket and it was much easier to position the screw and get it back where it belonged.

Pilot light will not stay lit

Will it stay lit for a while? If so light the pilot light, Turn on the blower fan, and watch the pilot light. Look for any air that's blowing the pilot light around. if the pilot lite is moving around then you could have a bad heat exchanger. If so you should get a carbonmonixide detector and have your furnace inspected for this. One thing to check also is make sure the thermocouple is at least 1/4 inch into the flame.
