that was really great advice being that after i wrote the to get advice i realized that the tv had 2 power buttons thanksthat was really great advice being that after i wrote the to get advice i realized that the tv had 2 power buttons thanks
I have pressed my POWER button manually, but no sound or lights responds. I have tried plugging the TV power cord directly into wall outlets that I know work, but still nothing. This TV showed no signs of problems the night before (5 years old).
Sometimes I turn off the TV using the remote control, which only turns off the cable box & sometimes leaves the TV light on (standby light?), but appears to be off because the screen in black. I wonder if I have caused the power supply to go dead sooner by doing this?
I have a 36" Panasonic tv about 5 years old. I think it is the power supply that is dead. I have just called a tv repairman and told him that I think my power supply is dead... he is charging $60 just to come look. I wonder what a repair like this should cost??? any ideas... I would have to say you have a dead power supply. You will want to make sure first that the "MAIN" power switch located on the lower left on the rear of the unit is turned on as well. Without that on there will be NO standby light.

1. Make sure AC power is on at the wall socket. Check your circuit breakers to see if one is tripped that allows power go to the wall socket.
2. Check your TV power cord and plug in to take sure the cord is not broken or damaged and that it is properly plugged into the TV.
3. If you are using a remote, replace the battery and see if the TV starts to respond to the on off button.
3. I assume you get nothing on the TV, pressing the menu button does not show the menu. If you do get something, try reprogramming the remote.
if the power light comes on but the screen stays black, then your TV might be on the wrong input Channel. for example: you switch inputs when you play games or watch dvds vs. watching regular tv. Try to change the input
This clearly shows that you have a defective motherboard and it needs to be replaced. Try contacting Toshiba support for this, hope this computer is still under warranty.
If it does the same thing w/ the battery removed and just on AC, it's a power regulator problem on the motherboard. If it works with the battery out, the battery is dead and you need a new one.
Few mins will not resetting tv and recovering power supply board from it protection modes that quick.Tries tv unplug, replug it back like about an hour later for tv resetting it back to the factory setting. The tv should get out it protections modes and might work again. If tv still have the same problems, than enough high currents got in the tv and kill ur tv power supply board. That the board where the power a/c cord plug into it.Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a whole new refurbish power supply board for the replacement.
take your tv to technician who can check your power supply, if your power is coming on and off, than a problem is not as big. firstly let him check a ht of a supply constantly, your supply is cutting.
