How do I replace the fan

heating problem ???
The first thing you need to do is figure out where the heat is coming from. No air flow means no heat transfer, so figure out where the air vents are. Are they blowing hot air, or is there barely a breeze, even when the fan is overtaxed?
Cleaning it out will work best. Turn you laptop upside-down and look at what you\'ve got.

Unscrew the fan doors and you should be able to lift out the fan and clean everything with a can of compressed air.
If you find that a fan is spinning erratically, you may want to try lifting the sticker off of the axle and putting a drop of mineral oil to keep it going.

I've had my acer aspire (5315) laptop for over 2 years

Hello,

Sometimes, the CPU heat sink fan might get clogged up or faulty or stop spinning entirely. Make sure that the fan can turn properly.

IF YOU CAN, open the unit when the battery is disconnected and the power is not connected, then reseat the CPU Heat sink and re-apply a eye drop heat sink thermal paste onto the CPU. Reconnect and tighten everything again properly and adhere to the sequence in turning the screws back as per their numbering on the heat-sink

If the FAN has trouble spinning, doesn't turn at all or is noisy and runs irregular please replace the fan. The fan alone should cost about a few US $.

My hp netbook keeps freezing for no apparent reason. I think it's over heating, but I don't know how to turn the fan on a higher setting. What do I do?

when you turn on pc> press f2 on your keyboard> you'll go to the bios or blue scree> look for advance and you'll see where you can configure the setting for your fan.

Pc keeps freezing up making a strange noise, then has to be switched offat power button. special happens when listing to music or movie

Hello,
This normally takes place when there's a problem with the processor. Well it could be your heat sink fan not running properly due to choke of dust particles, therefore making the processor over heat in stressful situations, causing the PC to freeze. If your fan is clean and running okay, then you would have to check your processor. If the problem persists, then you would have to check your memory since there are situations whereby a bad memory can also cause this.

All the best.

Satellite A305-S6883 freezing for no apparent reason

It's an overheating issue.

Sometimes you can fix it by updating the bios.

Make sure you do it while the laptop is really cooled off or else you could do serious damage.

You'll need to check Toshiba's support page for the latest bios for your model.

You should probably hook up a regular fan as well to keep the laptop cool for the time being.

If the bios upgrade doesn't work you'll need to open the laptop up, clean out the dust with some more air, and then I'd suggest cleaning / reapplying some Thermal compound to the Cpu and heat sink.

That should take care of the problem. If the fan still spins slow you might need to replace it.

WHY LAPTOPS FREEZE.

BUY A LAPTOP COOLER, THE POWER FOR THE COOLER RUNS OF A USB CONNECTION.

I PLACED HEAT SINK AND 2 FANS TO COOL THE TRANSFORMER TO KEEP THE HEAT DOWN, HELPS THE LAPTOP FROM OVER HEATING.

WORKING UNDERNIETH A CIELING FAN OF A FAN THAT OSALATES TO MOVE THE AIR AROUND WILL DO WOUNDERS.

HP Laptop freezes

It seems like you have some over heating issues. Compressed air can should do the job by the vents. If you're able to pull the cpu fan and heat sink assembly, then do so and clean them out. a tube of thermal grease will definitely help. you can apply it on to the CPU but make sure you clean out that no good factory grease before applying the new one.

best of luck
