HOW DO I SOLVE CANON PIXMA MX700 ERROR #5400?

  • karenquilt May 24, 2009

I turned my machine on this morning and Error 5400 popped up on the screen almost immediately. Have had the machine between one and two years. Have had no problems. Have done no serving or maintenance.

About two days ago I started getting an error message when I switched from the back feed tray to front feed tray. The front feed tray said it could not print using the paper I had in it but it was the very same kind of paper (standard stuff) I have been using all along. Prior to that I had been printing about 20 photos from the back tray. First time I had done that. Had had no problems with that.

Per the website at "http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=SupportDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=238&modelid=15651#SupportDetailAct" this may require service.

Either the sheet feed unit, purge unit, or logic board could be at fault.

I'd recommend bringing the unit into your local canon authorized service facility for complete diagnostic and repair.
