Question about Kodak V803 Digital Camera

Clicking noise when camera is on

The camera makes a light clicking noise (sort of like the auto focus working) that is continual until you hold the camera still.  It stops, but as soon as you move the camera it starts up again.  It's more annoying than anything and makes me think something is wrong.  It also makes the camera work a little more slowly.

I know this question is almost a year old, but thought I'd post a solution for those using Google Search to try and solve this problem. In the "menu" simply scroll to the "AF Control (Video)" option and change "Continuous AF" to "Single AF" and that should solve this issue.

The 'Burst mode' on my Kodak v803 does not work. Is it suppose to take 4 frame and automatically choose which is best, or can the user pick which one.

Hi,

I'm no expert, but take comfort in the fact that I have the same issue. Here's what's going on......the camera is autofocusing constantly. the noise you hear is the camera trying to autofocus. I don't think Kodak has a fix for this, from what I understand. It's more of a design flaw. to test this, put your camera in video mode and place it on a table. The sound should stop, because it focuses and then doesn't need to any more assuming it's pointing to a still object. To minimize your issues, take video using a tripod. You may be able to turn autofocus off, but I haven't found that menu option yet, and would make vidoegraphy difficult.

Weird noises when it's on and zoom button noise picked up on vid

change auto focus to single focus mode,
since it is on continuous auto focus on default, it would focus all the time so you don't need to click half way before taking a picture

It is making a constant strange noise when it is turned on. does it mean it is broken?

Not necessarily.
This camera has an auto lens. Which means it will focus automatically every second, which makes this clicking sound. You can turn this option off:
1: Go into the menu
2: Chose option Cam Settings
3: Switch AUTO focus to single lens and click OK.

My kodak m340 makes some clicking noise when taking videos, when i play it, i can hear the clicking in the background

The auto focus is what makes the sound. When the camera is in auto mode the sound can not be taken off. For videos and all other options on the top dial the sound can be taken away. Simply go into any mode on the top of the camera except auto; I chose video. click on the menu button and scroll down to AF CONTROL. Change from CONTINUOUS AF to SINGLE AF. This will knock out the auto focus from making that clicking sound while taking a video. The auto focus is the main component to the camera so it's really nice to have on all other dial settings; JUST NOT VIDEO!! :) Hope this helps you guys!

It's making a clicking noise and will not turn off. Only removal of the batteries make it turn off.

A common cause of continuous clicking is a malfunctioning auto-focus system. Typically, the focusing mechanism is trying to obtain image focus, but is unable to because the positioner cannot move the lenses into proper position. A camera which has been dropped or subjected to physical shock may exhibit this symptom, or the auto-positioner may just need repair or replacement.
If the positioner is actually physically ok, you should be able to switch to the manual focus mode to overide the auto system, and then follow manual focusing procedures to allow capture of an acceptable picture. If not, the positioner system will probably need attention.

Hi,I also experience this but it isn't a fault it is just the auto aperture! You will notice that as you move the camera around the noise kicks in as the light changes.

Video noise

When in video camera mode, press menu, and change auto focus mode from c (continuous) to s (single). The noise you hear is the auto focus motor going back and forth, trying to find the object focus constantly.
You can use this only if the object is not changing the distance to the camera while recording.
