Keyboard does not recognize letters on left side

I can help you update your Garmin Nuvi 200W.

There are three steps to take to get your Nuvi running like new:

1. Back up your Favorites.
2. Perform a Hard Reset.
3. Download and then run Garmin WebUpdater to replace its firmware / system software.

My Garmin 200 did the same on two occasions. On the bottom to the left of the serial number is a tiny reset button. Press that using a pencil point and all will be reset. And you don't lose any map data, so don't worry!

She can purchase the City Navigator Australia DVD and load the Australian maps onto an SD card. Insert this into the unit and she'll then have both S Africa and Australia maps.

It sounds as if the display is failing on your Nuvi and there is really no way a consumer can repair these units. I've shown the link to out of warranty repair at Garmin. As you will see, it is not inexpensive to have them repair it $125.00 flat rate) and you may want to consider a replacement GPS (if you're unhappy with Garmin, then you may decide to try another brand). The bright side of this equation is that when Garmin repairs a unit, they also load the latest software and maps (a map update is recommended at 1 year intervals due to constantly changing information) which would normally cost you $69.00 anyway. That sort of brings the price to repair your unit down to about $55.00 which is not too bad. New unit prices range wildly from $100-$200 on the internet.

Have you tried the "recalibrate" touchscreen command?

Press the "wrench" symbol at the main menu, then the "display" icon, and then "recalibrate".
Go through pressing the dots as requested and see if that cures your problem.

If you are a bit technical, copy the contents of the card to a folder on a PC. Plug in the Garmin. It should assign a drive letter to your unit. Open that drive letter and navigate to the folder GARMIN. copy the contents from the card to this location. There should be a file called gmapprom.img. You need that file as that's your map file.

Take note that it may take considerable time for it to copy it to the Garmin.

Try loading Updater in the Garmin site.

how can i get updates downloaded onto my garmin nuvi 200 series,i have it connected to pc but nothing is downloading,new roads,places,construction ect.

Me three. Just happened today. The keyboard is missing letters. I'm in the process of letting the battery die and see if that will serve as a hard reset, which it seems like it needs.
