Question about Dell A920 InkJet Printer

Printer Stuck Printer is Stuck! the power button blinks and I can not stop it! When I open the cover the print heads don't budge Please help!

Rano, The power cord is connected at the back of the printer with a rectangular connection, make sure the inner cables in the connectors aren't burned, I had the same problem and I replaced a burned cable and now its working fine!

Issue: Alarm / Power light flashes orange 5 times consecutively (Print Head / Cartridge Error)
Solution: Reseat the print head iP3000

Reseat the print head
  1. Confirm that the printer is powered on.

  2. Open the paper output tray and top cover.

    Note: Gently open the paper output tray while holding it.

  3. After confirming that the print head holder has moved to the center, open the inner cover.

  4. Remove all ink tanks
  5. .Raise the print head lock lever and remove the print head.Re-seat the print head into the print head holder and lower the print head lock lever until a click is heard.Insert the appropriate ink tank into the slot at the right end and push down on the PUSH mark on top of the ink tank until a click is heard. Install the other ink tanks in the same manner.Close the inner cover and top cover.Properly installed: Note: Check that each ink tank is installed in the correct position

Solution: 2 Reset the printer

Resetting the Printer By resetting the printer's power, the print buffer is cleared and certain sensors are reset. If there is invalid data in the buffer, or sensors are stuck in a particular mode; errors may occur. Follow these steps to reset the printer:
  1. Turn the printer off with the Power button (if available).

  2. Disconnect the data cable from the printer (not applicable to WiFi, Bluetooth or Infrared) .

  3. Unplug the printer's power cord for approximately 10 minutes, and then plug it back in. If troubleshooting a communication issue, reconnect the data cable (not applicable to WiFi, Bluetooth or Infrared).

  4. Turn the printer back on.

It says paper jam and the orange light keeps blinking. The cartridges no longer slide to end when lid is lifted. Can you help please? I have tried taking out and returning leads and holding down the On...


Please follow these steps for isolating and resetting the printer:

1. Open the printer's front cover, and then open and close the print
head lock lever (do not remove the print head).

2. Make sure all ink tanks are seated properly.

3. Make sure all packing materials have been removed.

4. Make sure no paper is jammed in the printer.

5. Disconnect the printer cable from the printer.

6. Close the front cover and turn the printer off.

7. Unplug the printer from the power source, and then plug it back in
after 30 seconds.

8. Power on the printer.

9. Attempt to print a Nozzle Check pattern by holding down the Resume
button until the Power light flashes twice.

10. If the error returns, the printer will require service.

Please find below the section in the user manual for the printer that tells you what the lights mean. Hope this helps.


Sometimes the lights on the printer signal a problem:

Both lights are off

• The printer is turned off. Press the power button. If you still don’t see the glowing green light, make sure the printer is plugged into a power outlet and that the outlet has power.

Both lights blink
• Paper may be jammed in the printer. Open the front cover and remove any jammed paper. Close the front cover and turn the printer off, then on again. Go to “Clearing a Paper Jam” on page 67.

• The cartridge cradle may be jammed.
Close the front cover, turn the printer off, then on again.
The power light blinks, and the resume light is off
• This is normal behavior when the printer is receiving data, printing, or waiting for ink to dry.

The power light glows steadily, and the resume light blinks
One or both of the inkjet printer cartridges may not be seated properly, or you may have forgotten to remove
the tape from a new inkjet printer cartridge. Open the front cover. Remove both inkjet printer cartridges. Holding the black plastic sides of the inkjet printer cartridge, check to be sure the tape has been removed from the print head. Then replace the inkjet printer
cartridges in the cartridge cradle. Make sure each inkjet printer cartridge is pressed all the way into the cartridge
cradle. If an inkjet printer cartridge feels at all loose, it is not properly seated. For instructions, go to “Insert Print Cartridges” on page 5.

• The front cover may be open. Make sure it is closed.
• There may be no paper in the lower paper tray. Load paper.
• The printer may need to reset. Press and release the Resume button.
• Your computer may be low on memory. Try restarting it.
• Turn the printer off, then on again. (This resets the printer.)
• Repeat the printing process.
Sometimes problems disappear when you try to print your document again.
• Printing problems can often be caused by errors in your applications.

If you can print from the SimpleText or TeachText application but not from another application, it’s probably a problem with that application. Contact the publisher of that application for help.

• Restart your computer.

Canon 1560 error - orange light blinking 5 times


It's mean "Print head not installed/Defective print head".First open cover and remove the ink cartridges.Then open holder and remove the print head.Clean the contacts on printer and print head using piece of cotton and some alcohol.Then put back all again.If the problem persist you need to replace the print head.It's part number now is QY6-0064, because the old QY6-0042 is discontinued.

One or both print head are defective.Open cover put out color cartridge then close cover.If blinking stops replace color cartridge.If blinking continues put out black cartridge and put in color.If blinking stops replace black cartridge, if not stop replace both cartridges.If this not help your printer need service.

Power & Yellow Resume Button flashing constantly & will not print


Ok please try




1. Turn off printer
2. Hold down Resume button and press Power button.
3. Keep holding down Power button and let Resume button go.
4. Press Resume button 2 times then let BOTH buttons go.
5. Green lights will flash and then stop blinking.
6. When green lights are solid, press the Resume button 4 times.
7. Press the Power button and the printer should turn off, if not, press the Power button once more.
8. Your printer should respond as normal.

Follow the steps below to perform Print Head Cleaning (Windows):

Note: After confirming that the cable is connected and the printer is powered on, perform the following.
  1. Open the Printers folder.

    • For Windows XP select 'Start', 'Control Panel', 'Printers and Other Hardware', and 'Printers and Faxes'.
    • For Windows versions other than Windows XP select 'Start', 'Settings', and 'Printers'.

  2. Right-click the printer icon and select 'Properties'.

  3. Click the Maintenance tab, and then click the 'Cleaning' icon.

  4. Click 'OK' to continue with the print head cleaning. The power lamp will flash and print head cleaning will start. Do not perform any other operations until print head cleaning completes.

  5. Print nozzle check pattern by clicking on the 'Print Check Pattern' button to determine if further cleaning is necessary.

  6. Once the page has printed examine the nozzle check pattern.

  7. If the pattern does not print correctly, click the 'Exit' button to return to the Maintenance tab.

  8. Click the 'Deep Cleaning' icon.

  10. Confirm the message, and then click the 'OK' button to start the Deep cleaning.

  11. The Power lamp will blink and print head deep cleaning will start. Deep cleaning completes when the Power lamp stops blinking and lights. (It will take about a minute for the Power lamp to stop blinking and light solid.)

  12. Print another nozzle test pattern. If the pattern still does not print correctly, replace any ink tank that may be low, and then perform another deep print head cleaning.

  13. If printing is still not satisfactory, there may be a problem with the print head.
