Hi,
Just go to the connections in your wifi list and double click on your router, and enter your username and password.
You can Click the Automatically connect to this Network button too.
Otherwise, you can put 192.168.0.1 into your internet browser URL address bar and hit enter. This is the router's local IP address. Go to security and Disable WEP or WPA or whatever encryption is enabled.

Hope this helps

Chris (ziraffa)

ps also make sure the 'Wireless' button is clicked on your laptop and the blue wifi light is on!

Wifi is turned off. How do I turn it on?

Stuart,

Some NetGear routers have a wireless button to enable/disable the wireless feature. Look for a wireless LED on the front of the router, if it is off check the back of the router for a wireless button. Press the button for 5 seconds to turn the wireless feature on/off. If that doesn't work you may need to login to the router to enable the wireless feature. Here's a snipet from the NetGear knowledgebase:

1. Type http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.1 in an Internet browser - some routers use the first URL while others use the second. If one of these does not bring you to the router's login screen, see If You Cannot Log on to Your Router.
2. Enter the user name and password; the defaults are admin and password unless you have changed them. NETGEAR strongly recommends changing the default user name for your network security.
3. Check Wireless Settings > Advanced > Enable Wireless Router Radio. For newer routers with a Genie interface, click on the ADVANCED tab > Advanced Setup > Wireless Settings > Enable Wireless Router Radio.
Note: You will need to uncheck two separate Enable Wireless Router Radio box if your router is dual band. One for the 2.4GHz and one for the 5GHz network.
I hope this helps.

Wanna know how to secure my belkin wireless G router.

Setting the router's administrator password

All Belkin Router's ship without an admin password. If you require an admin password then follow the below instructions.

Setup steps:

  1. Connect the computer to one of the four LAN ports on the router.
  2. Open a web browser on the computer.
  3. In the address bar of the web browser, type http://192.168.2.1
  4. Click Login in the upper right-hand corner of the page. The router does not ship with a password, so just click Submit.

  5. Click on System Settings under Utilities on the left-hand side of the opened page.
    systemsettings.jpg
  6. You will see a feature called, "Administrator Password". Type in your current password (default leave blank).
    .adminpwd.jpg
  7. Click "Apply Changes". Your new password is now active.

Note: Do not forget the new password and keep it somewhere safe. If you forget your password, you'll be unable to access your router's settings. If you forget or lose your password, you'll need to "Perform a hardware reset on the router". This will reset the password to its default, as well as erase any and all other settings you may have changed

Cannot get the roku box to work the signal comes up with a lock on it did work exallent until christmas how do i get the signal un locked

When you have the wireless signal with a lock it indicates that your wireless network is secured.
Your wireless network has a security key enabled
Access the router page
Go to the wireless settings or WAN settings
Check what is the security mode(WEP/WPA)
If WEP check which Key is selected(key1or2or3or4)
If you are not able to find the key create a new one
If you change the key here ensure that it is updated on the wireless computers as well

Cannot connect new laptop to wireless network. Belkin Wireless N

The wireless settings on the laptop and the router should match. To check the settings on the router you need to access the setup page by typing 192.168.2.1 in a web browser's address bar.

By default the password is blank.

Click the Wireless tab. And take note of the SSID or wireless network name.

Go to Security, then Wireless. If the wireless security is enabled, copy the network key or security key.

On the wireless computer, you should detect SSID and if wireless security is enabled, connect to it with the correct security keys.

Hope this helps! Good luck!

Siemens router & Dynex adapter

Double check if there is any wireless security enabled in your router. Verify if the type of security enabled in your router is already supported by your wireless adapter. If the wireless security enabled in your router is not supported by your adapter, change the security to something that will work with your adapter.

Try connecting your computer with dynex Wireless G USB to different wireless network for further isolation.
