Your best course of action would be to use System Restore, based on your response above. Go back to the point where everything worked for you and don't attempt to update your driver again. If it works, don't fix it.

Ideally you need Mouseware v9.79.3. that’s what came on the
CD for my RM67A. I have a M-RM67A transmitter. The date on the actual driver
for Logitech is 7/11/2003, v9.79.0.0 (as seen in Device Manager)
If you search for mouse M-RM63 on the Logitech web site, you
can download v9.79.1. That may be good enough.
Another mouse may have v9.79.3.
For years my RM67A did not seem to work. So I followed these
instructions, and it works now.
