I am getting a similar problem on a intermitent basis. Sometimes the screen flickers but the picture is ok. Other times I will get a thin, red horizontal line in the display. This line will show up in the actual picture

I had the same problem, only now it is black. I can not see anything. But you can still take pictures without viewing LED. It is very difficult without it. It works fine when viewing pictures have taken. Please help if you know a solution.
    Thanks

I have the same problem or even worse. The LCD is so blurred with intense pinkish tones that it is impossible to even distinguish the contour of objects. Initially I thought the problem was the Flash card and I replaced it. The problem however is still there. I had the camera for some 4 years and it only began to behave this way a couple of months ago. It's a shame because, when working properly, it took great pictures. Maybe we all should joint efforts and put some pressure on Canon to help us with the fix. Just a thought. What do you guys think? I'll take the initiative if you guys follow along. My email is em_lopez@msn.com

Same flickering problem. This just started just as I was welcoming my new granddaughter into the world. Bummer. Any response from Cannon on solutions?

In the picture taking mode I see some horizontal lines all over the LCD viewer. But this does not occur in the picture review mode.

Picture taken in sunlight looks really bad like an overexposure or something.

This camera I am having since 2004 and was working fine until now. But now this problem started to happen all of a sudden.

Purple streaks, lines and casts across the recorded images are some of the first stages of CCD failure. A blank image will occur when the CCD completely fails. A blank image however is not to be confused with a blank LCD (998bills) where images are recorded OK but nothing is visible on the back, that fault requires the LCD to be replaced by a service centre. As for CCD's, this is a known fault and will most likely be repaired at no charge by Canon if taken directly to them. More detailed information about the CCD problem can be found on the website of your local Canon, as an example, Canon Australia have this page http://www.canon.com.au/support/customer/default.asp?DXI=KnowledgeBase/Customer/KBArticleForm&File=KB01634&productID=powershota80

LCD flickering / Purple/Green Photos

I'm sorry to tell you, your CCD its death, no human intenvention can fix it, you must replace it, when a CCD fails, it's literally death, you can not fix it, its a very delicated part, and the fail it's some kind of microscopic evaporation or filtration problem, I'm pretty sure that it has no fix. I spend the last year trying to fix mine, but with negative results.

Flickering picture on lcd screen goes all black

I had/have the same problem. All I do is flip the camera vertical and it works. The screen displays appropriately, I think its some type of lens inside the camera that has came lose and it lines up properly when held vertical. It's a **** one solution, but it worked on mine and you can still take pictures. I would like to be fixed completely but I don't know how to. HELP!

HORIZONTAL FLICKERING ON SCREEN.

see the canon support site. Mine did the same thing then progressed to poor pictures as well. I just called them tonight and will be sending my camera off free of charge to be evaluated and then they will replace or repair for free if it is the sensor. :)

Good Luck! It sounds like they really want to remedy these situations!

A340 screen flickers unexpectedly!

i would suggest taking batteries out overnight and letting the camera discharge the stored power. then trying it again. also make sure what mode your in because the shake warning makes certain lights flicker
