Question about Microsoft ZUNE JS8BRPBDLUG MP3 Player

2 Answers

I have a brand new Zune 8 GB player, given as a gift. I downloaded the Zune Software, but when I connect the player by the USB cable, the Zune program does not recognize a Zune as being connected. Also, when the Zune is powered on.... This message appears with the Zune Games logo... ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO US - What is this???? I did reset the Zune. I did uninstall and reinstall the software. I did change to a back USB port. Got any new ideas?

If this was a virus, it was within the device itself. It would not power up at all until plugged into the computer. The software was downloaded from Zune's official site. I ended up calling customer tech help with Zune and they walked me through a format procedure which was cool. Since it was new, I lost no data. I had not even had a chance to see the menu or even a battery icon before the format was done. The format did the trick. Thanks anyway.

Just a thought but did you download the software and driver from the MicroSoft website? Sounds like a virus.

"All your base are belong to us" is a poor translation that appeared in a VERY old game a long time ago (that's actually kind of funny).

Ok, uninstall your Zune software. Take everything off your computer that has anything to do with your Zune. NOW plug the Zune in. The computer should recognize it and locate/install the necessary drivers and software. Once you get your software up and running, it should guide you through the steps to modify/personalize your Zune to your tastes. It should not matter what port you use. Simply uninstall everything Zune related and plug your Zune into your computer, and let the computer do the rest!

Try this....
Reset Zune: Press and hold the back button while pressing up on the control pad.
Connect Zune to a power source: If the Zune device is in sleep mode, this action will wake the Zune device and turn it on. If the battery does not have a charge, you may have to wait several minutes for the Zune device to turn on.

Also, make sure that the hold button on top of your zune is turned to the off position.

Hope this helps

ALL YOUR BASE BELONG TO US - is a video that must have been loaded on the Zune previously.

if all else fails...

If you connected the ZUNE to your computer before installing the software the computer may have installed it as a different device.

Go to Control Panel - then System - Device Manager. Plug in ZUNE player and see if any new devices show as being connected. BE CAREFUL IN DEVICE MANAGER THOUGH, IF YOU UNINSTALL THE WRONG ITEM, IT COULD MESS YOUR COMPUTER UP.

If this works rate it a FIX-YA!

Dont know how to set up zune with laptop

Just download the software from zune.net and then connect your Zune HD to your laptop with the USB cable and you can then add all of your media to the device. In order to wirelessly sync your device you'll need to first connect it with the cable and setup the wireless sync settings. After that you don't need to use the cable to connect your Zune to your laptop.

My zune ,8gb, wont connect to my mini laptop or brand new windows 7 laptop... all update software and doesn't say its charging

This could be a problem with your USB cable. Thats a main problem when you have already tried it on both of your computers. So buying a new USB could fix the problem. If not, you have a bigger problem and that could be a that the USB hook up to your Zune could have a linkage problem.

Nothing wont come up on my computer

Did you download the Zune software?

The Zune website has the Zune software which must be downloaded for your computer to communicate with your Zune.

And when you connect your Zune to your computer it should begin charging (as I'm assuming this is a new device).

If you have already installed the software I would assume the low battery was slowing the communication between your Zune and your computer.

If you Zune is fully charged and the software is fully installed try plugging the USB cable into a different port. Sometimes the Zune and the connector USB isn't automatically sensed on certain ports and certain moments.

Usb device not recognized when i plug in my zune

do you have the software installed? or a older version installed? if so that could be your problem with the drivers. try downloading the zune 3.0 software directly from the zune website instead of updating ,  here is the link to the download page

http://www.zune.net/en-us/software/download/default.htm
Make sure you uninstall any previous zune software first!
Hope this Helps

PC will not detect my zune.

Hey!! I just fixed mine! I had recently installed drivers for a PS3 controller, and for some reason those were conflicting with the Zune.

To fix it, I went to add/remove programs, and then removed the libusb program, that fixed it instantly! Good luck!

Make sure the hold/lock is not engaged

Make sure the OS is compatible

Either the device is bad, the pc port is bad, or the software is faulty. Try connecting to different usb port, then a usb port on a different pc with a compatible os. If still not recognized, then there is physical damage to player.

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
