I have the same problem I purchased two DDR pads and only the hand remotes work. Why is the pad not working? I have the pads plugged in correctly.

    Me too!

The mat seems to work for everything else but when we try to dance it doesn't recognize that we are touching the arrows at all. We tried making sure it was plugged into the first port as suggested by someone but that didn't work.

Me too. Pad works for clicking all the settings, but as soon as the dance action starts, the pad party stops.

Had the same problem. This fixed it.

We found the solution on another post:
"Try making sure that the DDR mat is plugged into the FIRST controller jack (there are 4). That is the only way that it is associated with controller 1. If you plug it in any of the other controller jacks, you will be able to use the mat with instructions, configuration, etc., but not to dance. Hope this is your problem! -GeoffM"

Good luck! This worked for us!

I had the same problem. It turned out that the documentation was wrong--the picture showing the four ports on the Wii to plug the mat into was upside down. I moved the cable from the leftmost port to the rightmost port, and presto, everything worked! I think by having it in the wrong port, it thinks it's a secondary controller and so it lets you operate the menus with it but not actually play...it's expecting you to hook up the primary controller to the first port.

me too. i get this problem . i have a wii dance pad that has a gamecube connector , and i guess the DDR doesn't detect it as a dance pad , but as a gamecube controller . so think , you can't hold the nunchuck and the gamecube controller at the same time . so i guess we need a wireless dance pad for the nunchuck to work as well .

The DDR pad works until it's time to start

The unit must be plugged into the player's one socket. The socket is the one closest to the power button on the wii console.

DDR3 for Wii - song ends before arrows start

From Konami's website. It fixed the problem for me.

Why does my DDR game fail as soon as it starts?
If you are playing on the Wii, this indicates the sensor underneath the plus button on your mat is stuck in the down position. To fix this, please unplug the dance mat from your system and then try shaking your mat out a few times as you would a rug. This helps move the sensors back into place and may fix your issue. If you are playing on the PlayStation®2 or the XBOX®360, this indicates the sensor underneath the start button on your mat is stuck in the down position. To fix this, please unplug the dance mat from your system and then try shaking your mat out a few times as you would a rug. This helps move the sensors back into place and may fix your issue.

Howcome my Wii DDR Hottest Party 2 mat doesn't work? It works when I tap it in choosing songs/options/etc, but it does not work at all when I'm stepping on it during the game/song! Please help!!

It must be plugged into player one for single play. Plug it into the slot that is closest to the power button. (i.e. it will have one dot under the connector to indicate player one.)

Hi. I just had this problem myself. I called support. You need to make sure that the mat is plugged into the round outlet on the wii with the one dot above it, or the player 1 terminal. Otherwise, the mat will be read as a player 2 mat and it won't work when the songs play.

Dance Dance Revolution

I had the same problem with plugging in 2 konami dance mats. Song would start and then an immediate "failed" would flash on the screen. When 1 mat at a time was plugged in the first portal slot, it worked just fine. Called Nintendo and they said it seems to be a problem with the #2-#4 portal slots and the console needs to be sent in for repair. Cost $82.50 and they pick up the postage. Will be sending it in after the holidays. Frustrating since we just got the DDR 24 hrs ago, but Ninetndo was nothing but helpful and understanding on the phone. No complaints about them! Hope this helps!
