CD's and DVD's are a very precarious technology, and depend on precise calibration to work properly. Chances are you got a lemon unit - but even a replacement unit will probably fail shortly, that's just the nature of CD and DVD technology. You might try cleaning the lens inside, that fixes a lot of problems. But if it's off calibration, there's not much you can do. I've been a professional tech for decades, and never buy CD's because I know better.

I would like to add a turntable to my Bose Cinemate II but when i plug the RCA directly into the Bose module the volume has to be to the max and is still very quiet

You need a preamp to solve that problem, the older amps and receivers had built in phono inputs with a preamp stage. Radio Shack use to make a preamp that ran on a 9volt battery for turntables that ran into the very problem you are talking about. But I do not know if they are still available, go to www.ebay.com Type: turntable or turntable preamp

I am thinking about purchasing the Pyle Home PCB3BK bookshelf speakers. Before I purchase, I need to know how they are connected? I have a JVC CD player that I want to connect the speakers to.

Any search engine will lead you to details about the speakers.

They're passive mini cube speakers. Unless your unidentified CD player has amplifiers and connections for speakers you are missing the crucial middle piece. What were you going to do about bass?

I just bought a receiver, Turntable, and bookshelf speakers. Everything got hooked up but I have serious distortion coming from the speakers. Did I hook it up wrong? What could cause this and how should I...

Distortion using which source(s)? Keep in mind a turntable is basically a microphone for room-born vibrations and loud sounds so it may create feedback. And a TT without an onboard Phono preamp will require connect to one in your electronics. It will be labeled explicitly "PHONO" and only a TT should use it.

Fill in all the make and model details and how you have it connected.

Is it possible to connect turntables and mixer to Acoustic Wave Music System 2 through the Aux, and simultaneously play a backing CD so that both can be heard? Eg, scratching vinyl over a hip hop beats CD.

Yes.

A traditional turntable requires a preamp inline with it to PRE amplify the minute signal produced by it's cartridge. Most setero receivers and preamps have Phono connection and internal preamplification strictly for that purpose. Many mixers out there have a Phono section or two, too, so your mixer will determine what you can do with vinyl.

Some of the newer turntables come with selectable internal preamplification to solve the lack of it in modern equipment.

The mixer can send its output to the Aux input on the AWMS-2.

If you have only the internal CD player I don't think you will be able to do what you want. Reason: the AWMS-2 doesn't have a traditional Tape Monitor circuit which would allow its own internal program (including AM/FM) to exit to your mixer and come back in via the AUX. Selecting AUX disables its output. Thgis is to preevent a potential feedback loop. The AWMS wasn't designed for people who want or can control complexity in their listening.

If you have the external 5-CD changer or another CD source, you would be able to run all that through the mixer prior to its entry into the AWMS-2.

Help with Sony SA-VA100, No Sound!!!

Your best bet is to actaully purchase a better CD player, which sucks because it sounds like the one that Sony sent you in the VIAO system is defective. I would contact the merchant that you purchased the system from and demand them to replace the defective drive.

I hope this helps.
