Your TV must have an audio out, or at least an earphone jack, to connect it to any external speakers. There's no way around that. But it's easy for a technician to install an audio output in any TV, shouldn't cost more than the standard bench charge plus a few dollars for parts.
One hour's labor is all it takes. More likely, you have a handy friend who can do it a lot cheaper.

I bought an asda surround system model SP550. Four speakers connected to main console. But should there be anything that connects to the TV?

This is more of a multi media speaker system for your PC, so you will notice the cable provided my not connect to your TVar all. You have to connect the mini 3.5mm headphone pin into the headphone socket of the TV. If you do that only the front two speakers and the subwoofer will work ( 2.1 mode ). The surround speaker will stay silent because you cannot use the second pin on your TV.

I just bought a Yamaha 5.1 system with rcvr RX-V365 i have HDMI to tv then HDMI to RCVR then another HDMI to DTV. Problem cant seem to get picture AND sound together through RCVR. depending on what setting...

RX-V365 doesn't support sound over HDMI. It can switch the video+audio from HDMI in to HDMI out, but can't play the sound through the speakers. You need to connect the audio separately via optical or coax digital cable.

I've bought a panasonic sound surround dvd player and want to link it to a sky+ box and tv so that sky will play in sound surround. Can you advise on the wiring configuration please?

look at the back of your tv does it have a audio out RCA jack?
it should do plug in the surround sound into that using RCA cables

if your tv does not have audio out RCA jack then you can

get a adapter which makes scart connectors turn into RCA jacks get that off ebay

plug the yellow line to the tv and connect the red and white to suround sound
but with this there are a few problems sound will only come out when surround sound is turned on and skys sound will never play out the tv
if you switch to a PS3 or something it will not play suround sound

yuo best option is the RCA plugs in the back of the tv

because you have not written the model number of the tv or the suround sound i cant help any further

I just bought a Emerson 32'' LCD TV Model # LC320EMXF and a RCA Surround System Model # RTD315W. I also purchased a HDMI cable to connect them. The TV works and the Surround System works but I cannot get...

The TV may not have an audio out feature. I just run the tuner sound (i.e. my cable box) directly through the srround sound for the TV audio.

My samsung sound surround system is 1000watt and im not benefitting from the volume< it is connected to my tv but how do i turn the sound surround louder by using the volume on my tv aswell as the sound...

You need to program the TV remote to work the surround sound.  You gotta select a button that says AV or Aux on the remote.  Then you gotta input some #s so the TV remote can send the proper infrared beam to the surround receiver.  The codes will be in the users manual to operate different brands of electronics.

No sound thru surround sound system in TV Mode

Hi,
You need to connect your TV to the AUX connection in the back of your HT system. Then set your HT system on AUX 1 and wait about 5 seconds for the TV sound to come through. If it does not work on AUX 1, you may have to try on AUX 2 or AUX 3 settings on your HT system. Make sure the A/V cable you use is good and in working order and is a good quality cable.
Hope that helps, Gary

Sound Problems with HD TV

This seems to be a problem that has to do with your HDMI audio output.
First check in your TV setting if audio out is selected on your correct HDMI port. Than check if your receiver is able to receive audio via HDMI (i assume you used the HDMI connection). Some receivers have HDMI IN connections but are not able to receive audio on it, the latest receivers/sets do have this feature. If your receiver doesnot support audio IN via HDMI you can only do one thing, connect the stereo audio-out of your TV to an AUX IN connection on your receiver.

Trying to get surround sound speakers to work with TV

They come with 3 x 3.5mm stereo to 2 x RCA phono cables, so are obviously meant for plugging in to the back of a PC with 6ch output.

BTW - they're ****.

I should've known for £29....

Surround sound ok whilst playing dvd but not working for tv

On your Sagem TV you should have two RCA ouputs (red and white connection usually marked ouput) ) Connect these to the input on the surround system using the interlink cable.

You should then be able to hear the sound from the TV by changing the SOURCE on the home cinema remote.

Better still if you have a digital out on your TV use that instead.
