Check the wireless card connections physically. I received a Aspire one that had a wire disconnected from the card itself. if that is in tack find out what driver you are using for your card using "lsmod" see if there are alternatives. Try a live boot USB linux and see if your wireless card functions under that if it doesn't it is hardware if it does it is software. I would switch to another linux like sabayon or ubuntu eeepc versions they function better. I run Sabayon on both of my netbooks. Ubuntu ha sbetter support though.

Hi I am Vortash I find that Linux is having a fair amount of problems at the moment , possibly because of the trend to drift towards beta programs and systems not sure , but it sounds like the program is corupt if it was windows the fix would be simple .. i would say re-eneter your wireless /lan / earthnet card .. drivers depending on how your connecting , and press repair connection .. I think I would go a simillar way here and re-install connections .. hope this helps Vortash
Wireless communication "takes two to tango". Your computer needs a wireless adapter, and you need a wireless access point to connect to. Most wireless access points are setup to be secure with a password, and to connect to a secure wireless network you will need that password, and possibly the type of encryption.
You should start by enabling the wireless adapter in your computer, and searching for nearby networks. Please tell me what operating system you have (Windows XP/Vista, Mac OS, Linux, etc).
If the pc has a wireless LAN then what you only need to do is just that the pc will give you a pop up whenever its sees a network for browsing then you click on it if it is available for usage is going to prompt you and if not that means the network is secure but if at your house you did not have a network then you can get a USB doggle from any network manufacturer close to you and you will paying some penny to them and you will be given a driver for the installation ok then you will be free to use it anywhere but once the laptop is having WIFI then anywhere you reach and laptop prompt you a network is find then you can easily browse there.ok
