well if it only happens on the one game this will happen if the game has any defects in it or the laser on your machine is about to go. First thing I would do is take the game into a video game or movie store and get them to resurface the game cheaper only like $4 and if that does not work the laser or drive need to be replaced in your unit nintendo has a great warrenty for their unit. OR if you have a Play N Trade Video game store or someone local that can fix it that would be the fix if cleaning and repairing the game did not work.

There is a trigger switch that the disc hits when it is inserted, this tells the consol to pull the disc in, when a disc is ejected the proper way the system retracts the trigger so the disc can be ejected, By pulling the disc out with force your son has either broken the trigger and the consol cannot tell that a disc is inserted, or he has pulled the trigger backwards and the disc is not making contact with the trigger...You will have to disassemble the consol to inspect the trigger (unless you can see it threw the slot) and either place it in its proper setting or super glue it back together.. Another option is to send it in for repair...Hope this helps
I Haven't played this game yet, I still play 08 but I could tell you I really believe that its not currupted data because if it was my thought is you would not even be able too get on your franchise or whatever mode your playing at all. But if you can get to the point the where you can't do anything, I would say the problem would be with the disk itself. So What I would recommend is go and rent the game to get a diffrent disk. But you might want to get some more help before u do that because if it dosen't work then u just threw away money but that happen to me before with a diffrent disk and when I bought another copy it worked fine so thats all I can tell you . Hpoe this helps tto get your problem resolved.
Make sure the disk is compatible and not damaged.Try playing another disk and see what happens if you still do not get anything you may want to consider a xbox or 360 with remote control for dvds. Also check to see if ps2 has a remote for playing dvd disc. never worry!!
