Yes, I have the same problem with a Kingston SDHC 8GB ! My digital camera shows "error: memory locked". Can't use this memory with any other device, same problem. And I tried many times with the switch on the card in both positions, so that's clearly not the problem. I'm beginning to think the card is damaged.....Help!

SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

My z720 will no accept a new 8G 0r even a 4G memory card, in the past I have used and still use a 2G card and it works ok.

Your camera works with MMC and SD cards. Your 4GB and 8GB cards are actually SDHC cards. While they will fit into the slot, SDHC cards are electronically incompatible and will not work in SD devices. You need to stay with cards 2GB and smaller.

My canon sd870 is reads card lock, how do you unlock it?

Maybe it is having trouble with the size of the memory. Memory cards have grown enormously in capacity in the last couple of years, and even relatively new cameras may not be able to cope with the memory size of the newest cards. It is often difficult to find out the maximum capacity a camera will use, as today's memory cards are much larger that those available when the manual for the camera was written.

SD and SDHC cards fit the same slots, but many cameras won't work with the SDHC (high capacity) cards. SDHC is not backwards compatible.

First, make sure your camera can accept SDHC cards. If the camera says the card is locked, move the slide switch on the side of the card.

Check your camera specs, some of the Kodaks only can handle 4 G or 8G cards at most, see what the camera is built for

Memory card error

The memory card could be too big. Some camera's can only use a certain size memory card. You will have to check your manual to see what the specifications for your memory cards. Hope this helps.
