Hi Paige

Double check you have the latest version of iTunes downloaded from the Apple site. Sometimes the drivers get corrupted. Also make sure you are using a USB port directly on the back of the PC (ie, not a Hub or extension of any type).

Last resort is to put the ipod into disk mode (press and hold the Menu and Select buttons until the screen goes black then press the Play and Select buttons till it says ok to disconnect (a bit of a miss direction)) then connect it to the pc. The iTunes should then see it and you can then do a restore of the device to reset it.

All the best

SOURCE: 8GB iPod Touch Disabled

you will have to restore your ipod to factory default settings in itunes.
or you can jailbreak the ipod with software like quickpwn.

Here is how to restore your ipod in itunes.
You will need to put the itouch in DFU/Recovery mode to get it to connect.

Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman";} Plug the usb cable into the Ipod and NOT into the computer.
Hold the Home Button down for 5 second (do not release it)
Then Press and hold the Power Button for approx 10 secs (count them out)
Your iPod will reboot.
Release the power button and continue holding the Home button for an additional 27secs.
You may see the screen go blank or not.
Plug the USB end into the computer with itunes open.
Your ipod will mount in recovery mode.
Restore it and Your all set.

if you need any further help let me know.
Good Luck

SOURCE: ipod nano 16gb won't connect with pc(itunes).

Hi,
Is your ipod nano fully charged? and your installed iTunes the latest version?
Please make sure it is charged, and the new iTunes is downloaded and installed from here please do the following steps:
Connect ipod nano to PC. Make sure iTunes is already open prior to connecting it.
If this is the first time you are connecting then your PC will automatically install Apple Mobile Device Driver.
Once installation of the driver is complete, you should see the ipod nano logo appear within iTunes very soon. and start using it.

How do you restore a ipod touch 4g

The fourth generation iPod is identified as the iPod with the click wheel and color display, and also known as the iPod Photo. All models of the iPod 4G include the click wheel and full color display, making it easy to view album artwork and photos. Subsequent versions of the iPod also have video capabilities. If you are having trouble with your iPod 4G, there is a series of steps you can follow to try to fix the problem. Start by resetting the iPod (see Below). http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/photo/ If this doesn't do the trick, you may need to restore the iPod, which replaces potentially corrupt software components. Doing so will erase all the iPod's files, so you should make sure you have your files backed up in the iTunes Library.

Download and install the latest version of iTunes. Open the program. Connect your iPod to your computer using a USB cord. Select your iPod from the device list in iTunes once it appears. Click "Restore" on the "Summary" tab of the main screen. iTunes will prompt you to select from one or more restore options. Choose how you want to restore the iPod. The first part of the restore will begin. You'll see a progress bar on the screen. Leave the iPod connected to finish the restore, as iTunes prompts you to do. The iPod will now show an Apple logo and progress bar on its screen. Follow the prompts of the iTunes Setup Assistant when it appears onscreen. Enter a name for the iPod. Choose your syncing preferences. Reload your iPod files from the iTunes Library.

How to unlock iPhone 4

I'm sure you have forgotten your iPhone password so that need to unlock iPhone. It's a common situation. You can solve this problem by means of iTunes or iCloud. Just follow below steps.

-Use iCloud
  • (1). Open and log in iCloud on your laptop or PC that is connected with the iPod touch.
  • (2). Click Find My iPod and let it start to search and connect with your iPod touch APP.
  • (3). When iCloud is connected to the iOS device, its position will be fixed and shown on the map, then click the option at the upper right of Clear iPod and follow the next indication.
-Use recovery mode

  • (1). If iTunes prompts you to enter the password, and you cannot remember it, try to use the recovery mode to unlock iPod touch without password. Given that you are using recovery mode, you are not able to backup before resetting device, which means that you are going to lose all the data on the iPod touch.
  • (2). Close iPod device completely. Hold Power button and slide the Power Slider to close iPod touch.
  • (3). Connect your iPod touch to the computer and use iTunes to enter into recovery mode.
  • (4). Open iTunes and hold Power+Home buttons long before the logo of Apple appears. Then click Recovery Mode.
  • (5). Click Set Up As New iPod Touch. Initialize the settings of your iPod touch and import the backup and restore the data.

My iPod touch 4th gen is disabled and won't shut off, what do I do?

The iPod 4G (fourth generation) is easy to restore to factory settings. This may reinstall the software, and it always wipes all music, video and other data from the iPod. Restoring is the most effective way to fix problems with the iPod that haven't been fixed through traditional troubleshooting. You will not be able to retrieve data from your iPod 4G once it's restored, so make sure you back up your information first.

Plug your iPod 4G into your computer with its dock connector USB cable. Install the most recent version of iTunes and open iTunes. Wait a moment for your iPod to appear in the side bar. Click on your iPod in the side bar and select "Restore." A pop-up window will ask if you're sure you want to clear your iPod and restore to factory settings. Click "Continue" and enter your password, if prompted. Leave the iPod untouched and on a flat surface while it restores to original settings. It's important that you don't try to disconnect or use the iPod while it's restoring. You'll see a progress bar either on the iPod or your computer that indicates how far along the process is. Select your new syncing settings (automatic sync or manual) when prompted after the restore is complete.

First of all you need iTunes. Here is the download link: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ . Next you need the cable to connect the iPod to the Computer. After you install iTunes connect the iPod. iTunes should be opened automatically when you connect your player.
If you have further questions, or need further assistance regarding this problem, just leave a comment. Thank you for using FixYa. Cheers

IPod nano 4G that iTunes no likey

reformat your ipod, if you installed itunes via disc or from file, you should have the option in itunes to restore your ipod to factory settings. If you have songs on your ipod that arnt on your computer, you will need to copy them off the ipod before you restore your ipod.
To copy music off an ipod that is YOURS (in XP) go to my computer>click on your ipod> then go to tools>folder options>View TAB>and click on the option "show hidden files and folders". Then there should be a folder somwhere in your ipod (depending on what ipod you have) that says music. Copy that folder to the desktop and filter through all of the folders inside it for your music.

New iPod Nano 4G won't connect to iTunes.

Hi Paige,

  • First reset the device by pressing and holding Menu & Select till the apple symbol appears
  • Next check the USB port on both the PC and ipod are clear of dust etc.
  • Download and install the latest iTunes from the Apple site.
  • Connect the ipod to a USB port directly on the back of your PC (ie, not a USB hub or keyboard etc.)
  • If iTunes recognises it (properly or improperly) and suggests an ipod software update, do this.
  • On the main ipod page of iTunes press the restore button and choose the bottom option (if it gives you any) to restore the ipod to manufacturers settings.
  • After a couple of restarts once its done it should be fine.
