Question about Yamaha HTR-5730 Receiver

1 Answer

Yahama HTR-5730 Only recently has my Yahama sound system not been working properly. The sound is working but it doesn't seem to support my plasma television. When I plug it into the HTR-5730, only the sound works. There is no video. Can anyone help? Also, I seem to have lost the manual and would like to find a copy online. Is there a downloadable version available? Thanks.

My screen has no picture

Seems like backlight is not turning on. Try to get different angles and bright light on the screen to see if there is something on the screen (not sure if this is true on plasma). If you see some text/image, troubleshoot the backlight board.

Is your Panasonic set to monitor the HDMI input? Just like selecting a mode input on the Tv you must also select the mode input on the surround system.

Plasmas are notorious for a slight humming or buzz that emits when they are on...
A clicking sound when plugged in isn't nececessarily bad. However, the picture not working is bad and this may require a technician.
Are you using the proper power cord that came with your tv? Are you able to use the included remote or use the power buttons on the television itself?
Has the tv been moved or dropped recently?

I have no sound from Xbox HDMI connection.

you likely connected it with one or both units involved on and HDMI does not like that--prone to all sorts of audio issues.

If in doubt unplug the units and wait and plug back up making the connections first.

There is nothing wrong with your Yahoo 7 Mail because there are already literally tens of thousands of people are using it that includes me. However there can be some problem with your browser, Your computer may have a virus or you internet is not working with proper bandwidth. In any case the problem is with your local system.

Set up

Seems that Hitachi DESIGNED the sound to cut off from the Audio Out jacks if you use component video or HDMI inputs. Has to do with copyright laws of the HD Video -- which makes it asinine that they disabled the audio as well, as it's not part of the copyright issue. Seems to me they were just lazy to disable the ENTIRE set of output jacks.

I am hoping to find some sort of hack for this (either firmware or severing/splicing a control wire). However, I can't find much information on this yet.
