Plug it into the usb device of your computer
download the latest firmware from the RCA website.
Keep mp3 plug in and then install the downloaded firmware
do not unplug it while the firmware is downloading to the mp3 player

Bought the RCA m4304-a for son for Christmas when we try to install software we get errors on each item it tries to download

Try using Windows Media Player to upload your music. I'm not a fan of the software that came with it. I received mine as a Christmas gift a few days ago and I found it is so much easier to upload music through Windows Media Player than to use their software. Plus, it is a lot easier to upload audio books as well. Make sure you have the most up to date version of Windows Media Player for your operating system. I run Windows XP, so mine was Windows Media Player 10.

I haven't tried to upload video or pictures yet though. Hope this helps!

My RCA player will not charge

The RCA TH-1602 does not come with a re-chargable battery. It comes with an alkaline battery. It can use any AAA battery that you install. If you want a rechargable battery, buy one and install it. Otherwise, buy any AAA battery to replace the one that came with it.

RCA Opal M4208RD not turning on..

Long questions are good - it lets me know what you have tried. Your problem is probably hardware-related, which means you will need to get that player replaced either through the store or by calling RCA, the manufacturer. As a last-ditch effort, however, make sure the lock switch is not engaged on the back of the player. Reformat the player, and then reload ver. 2.3 of the firmware:
reformat the player by using the Windows format command on the unit. To reformat the memory:
Right click on the device within the Explorer or My Computer window
Select the format command (full format) to reformat the internal memory of the device.
Reinstall the firmware from:

H E L P!!

Suggestion! When you have the RCA Lyra connected to your computer, right click on Start - go to Explore. Then find the RCA device (drive letter). Double click on it. The songs will display. SINGLE - Click on a song that you want to delete. Right click on it. Choose Delete - and it's gone. (I have just removed some of my songs the other day!) Good luck!
