Sony DCR PC7 NTSC used for Skype, how do i keep it "on"

The recording turns off every ~10 mins. How do I keep it "on"? And, I can't find my manual ... where can I find one.

I'm using the camera for Skype ... so technically, it's not recording. It's hooked with firewire to my computer.

    Thank you. Got the manual.

I've been using the AC adapter and took the tape out.So, it looks like I'll be pressing the record button each 10 minutes ... I guess unless I install some other software that will "record" since I'm using WebCamDVcapture. Ideas how to avoid the standby?

I figured it out: use the "photo" mode instead of the "camera"/video recording mode. And yes, AC adapter, remove tape. And, I'm not sure if it matters but I also removed the battery.

Use ac adapter for longer power ON.
If tape is in camera, camcorder will go to standby mode if tape is not recording or it is in pause mode.

How can i use camera to take ntsc movie

The DCR-TRV27E only records in PAL format. You can use it to play back a tape recorded in NTSC but you cannot record one.

Sorry if that wasn't the answer you wanted to see, but that's the way this camcorder works.

My sony dcr-trv250 ntsc does not play videos that were recorded on my old samsung scx904 or alittle older sony that my father in law had let us borrow before we got ours...why? and is there some way to...

Your DCR-TRV250 uses a Digital 8 system to record and playback information on its cassette whereas the older Analog 8mm machines used the analog system. Unfortunately the two are incompatible.

How to switch from pal to ntsc

Camcorders have only one color system to record accordingly, either PAL or NTSC
Sony DCR-HC36 is NTSC camcorder and DCR-HC36E would be PAL camcorder.
Hope this info will help you.
Thanks.

Can I use Hi8/Digital8 NTSC tapes in my DCR_TRV250E?If so would I be able to playback recorded tapes on the UK televisions?.

DCR-TRV250E is a PAL version camera of the Digital8 format.
Yes you can use Hi8/Digital8 NTSC tapes. The camera will record a PAL digital picture on the tapes which means that you can play back the tapes in PAL and therefore you will be able to playback recorded tapes on UK televisions because they are also of the PAL format.

I cannot play my ntsc cassettes on my ntsc tv

You need to get ahold of a video format converter, there are several on the market. Convert the video from pal to ntsc and that will fix you.

Black and white playback with sony handycam dcr-hc20

There is no problem on your camera, DCR-HC19E is PAL system(European system) DCR-HC20 is NTSC(American system). Are you in US or Europe? I think your TV is NTSC, cause the tape recorded on DCR-HC19E you played has no color. To confirm, connect your HC20 to TV in camera mode, not recording yet, just look at the TV as your monitor, If its in color, no problem, just erase the old video recorded on the HC19E, but if its important to you, you can convert it to NTSC using a PC. thanks
