Re: will not finish set up
Try reset --- Hold the Reset button on the router in for about 30 seconds - then
To reconfigure, connect to one of it's Ethernet ports, load a web browser, and go to the URL http://192.168.1.1/. This will take you to a popup box which asks you to enter a username and password to login to your router.
On older LinkSys routers, the default username is blank and the default
password is "admin." On newer Linksys routers, both the default
username and the default password are set to "admin."

Try doing a factory reset of the router by pressing and holding the RESET button on the back down for about 15 seconds.
After you do this, then try the installation again. The factory default password is "admin".
Try going to the BIOS and see if it reboots from there. If it does, then it is most probably a hardware problem. You can try re-seating the memory modules and If you have multiple modules, try them one at a time.
If it does not reboot while you are in the BIOS, then the problem lies on Windows. Get your DELL Restore CD or your Operating System CD and insert it to the CD-ROM drive. Reboot the computer and press F12 while seeing the Dell logo, that should give you the options to boot to CD-ROM. It will give you a quick prompt of "press any key to boot to cd..". Make sure you press the space bar during this time to initiate the boot from CD-ROM.
Once the Windows Setup loads, Choose "Recovery Console" to repair your computer. Just choose the installation you would like to repair (normally it's number 1) then it will ask you for the administrator password. By default, the password is blank, but if you set a password for admin then use that password.
Once you get to the prompt, Type this command. "CHKDSK /R" (without the quotes). It will initiate the repair for your OS. This might take an hour or so. Just wait for it to finish and it will automatically reboot your computer. Let the computer computer reboot normally. You should be able to get to your normal windows screen back.

Here is a link to Linksys's section (with downloads) on that particular router. http://www.linksysbycisco.com/US/en/support/WRT54G/
If you are just trying to modify the settings of the router, you do not need software to do that other than a web browser. Start your internet browser of choice and type in the URL box 192.168.100.1 which should bring up your modem's settings.
put your copy of xp into the cd rom... boot up and enter setup and change the boot order to booting from the cd rom first... follow the screen instructions to install xp... when it reboots in the middle of the install DO NOT hit a key to start the cd rom... let it continute to boot from the hard drive to finish the install.
if you need further help or instructions don't hesitate to ask

Aspire one does not have a CD/DVDROM however you can use another computer to be able to setup your router. You can probably ask a friend to use his/her laptop that has a CD/DVD ROM. After setting up the router, you can connect your Acer Aspire by letting it detect the wireless signal and connecting to your router wirelessly.
**You can also try to insert the installer disc on another PC and copy all the contents of the CD/DVD installer of the Netgear into a USB flash Drive. Plug the USB flash Drive into your Acer then run the setup file inside and follow the instructions.
