Question about Acer Aspire 5500 5570-2609 Laptop
The DC Input jack for my Acer Aspire 5570Z is broken, rendering the machine useless. Could you please advise which part needs to be replaced and a site where I could find the part for purchase online. The machine has been at the repair shop for over 7 months now, I need to solve this ASAP.
Yes it's not usually something that can be repaired at home. Your chances are better if the jack just seems loose and not actually broken, however replacing it is better. I work for a Laptop Repair Shop in NYC and we deal with this issue frequently.

Unless you have very good soldering skills and knowledge of dismantling a laptop etc , take it to a repair shop and get it done. It only takes one wrong move if you attempt this yourself.
As for the replacement part you need a "DC Power Jack"
Search on ebay for your model - most shops should reduce the repair fee if you have the replacement part already
Sometimes the old jack just needs resoldering on , but it is better to completely desolder the old jack from the motherboard , then resolder on the new jack
Remember , if the laptop works in any way , or did do before it broke , i recommend taking it to a repair shop as DC jack replacements is probably the hardest laptop repair there is.
