Question about Sony KV-32V16 TV

1 Answer

Hi, I just inherited a SONY KV32V16 television. My brother brought it to my house to hook up. I have basic cable using a cable line out of the wall. When he hooked the cable to the TV I only get channels up to 26 whereas I should be getting 99 channels and the channels where the stations are appearing are different from what they were on my other television. My brother said I need to get a converter box to get the rest of the stations...is this true?

I can watch DVD's and can see the cable menu but I see NO picture on regulat channels. All I see is a series of small vertical lines like a bar code in the upper left corner.

If you are using a cable box then you should contact your service provider and they will probably need to swap out the box for another one. One thing you can do in the in between time is to connect the cable from the wall to your tv and watch your basic cable programing until they can get you an appointment.

Good luck...

My Sony kv-32hs240 turns on and after one hour

Sounds like you've got a short in your house electrical lines. Try using a surge protector (AKA power strip) between the power cord and wall outlet. If you've already got a surge protector, try replacing it.

SONY KV32V16...can't get all my cable stations.

I called our cable company about getting a converter box and it ended up I didn't need one after all. The cable rep told me to go to the menu and try the auto-programming. He was familiar with the TV I have and said that a converter box is not necessary. So, I tried the auto-programming and still didn't get all the channels...then I noticed on the menu for the channel set up there was the word "Cable" and after it it said "Off" so, I switched that to "On" and did the auto-programming, and Presto! I got all my channels.

Switches off after 3 to 4 secs--little bright screen hor line and small retrace lines

On the my sony website, they said try unplugging the set for 3 or 6 minutes. Then plug it directly to the wall. If that don't work, and it won't; seek a service center. I have the same problem.

Next time we better buy Panasonic. Sony products fail ALOT. I had a 5 disc DVD Changer and it was defective and it was part of a class action lawsuit,

I believe this is the same sort of problem.

The sony Vaio laptop computer gets consistent poor reviews.

I brought an alarm clock and its back up battery never worked right out of the box.

I brought a cordless phone and the LCD display went blank.

I am so DONE with Sony.

Good name; Bad products.

My sony wega 36' circa 2001 will not receive cable signal.

If none of the r.f. inputs are working and you do not get local channels off of a pair of rabbit ears. You may have a bad tuner. Which you can get replaced for 125.00-150.00 or you could run the cable into a vcr input and use audio/video cables to connect to a video input on the tv and switch tv to that input and run the channels using your vcr. In other words, use your tv as a monitor and use the vcr tuner to pickup basic cable. Hope that takes care of it, Russmann.

Sony TV KV-32v26

Do you mean basic CABLE channels or Aerial channels? If aerial, what kind of antenna are you using (you must have SOME sort of antenna... rabbit ears, set-top, etc...)?

TV (Model DS27510) is stuck on Video2 setting, unable to change!!

Ours is doing the same thing except on Video 1. I called Sanyo customer service and they said I need the original remote. They were willing to sell me one for $20. Here is what I did instead. I used a cable box and hooked the cable in to it. Then I took the type of cables that will hook into my video 1 slot and plugged them in there and plugged them into the back of the cable box in the "cable out" positions. It worked ! If you do not have a cable box you might try a DVD/VCR combo or a VCR. Good Luck

Power problem

Your brother might have a power problem since the same thing happened to both sets. The 'loud clicking' sound could also be the high voltage arcing. If this is the case there may be water condensation on the picture tube or high woltage circuits causing them to arc shutting down the set. This will happen in cold locations where the set has been brought in from the cold or if open gas heaters are being used. Once the arc starts it will carbonize(burn) the insulation. This will cause permanent damage.(sometimes)
