If the songs were purchased from iTunes, forget about it. Philips has yet to make a player that is iTunes compatible. Unfortunately, if you have purchased music from another service, you would have to buy a DRM-stripper to make it compatible with Philips' non-DRM compatible models (of which they have several). You best bet is to buy Rhapsody's Mp3-Only service - the songs are DRM-free and will work with your Philips. You could also get songs from Limewire that are in mp3 format. If you are sure the songs are in mp3 format, and it is still giving you the error message:
The bit rate and sampling rate that you set for the mp3 format was possibly wrong. Since the 4GB player obviously isn't an HDD6330, I can't tell you what those rates are, but they are on the spec sheet that came with the player in tiny writing (or in the back of the manual sometimes - 50/50 with Philips). Go back into the Rip options in Windows Media Player and set the bit rate to 128. Once ripped, select the Properties for one of the song and find out the sampling rate. If the sampling rate is wrong, you can use a free program called Media Monkey to convert them to the right rate.

Another possibility: the songs that you initially converted were in CDA format. When you went to resync the songs that had been changed to mp3 format, the Philips read them as "already on the player" and ignored the format changes. Delete all the songs off the Philips and resync the songs that are in mp3 format. Good luck!

Check the specification of your MP3 player to determine thetype of video file format it uses. Most common video files that MP3 players use are, AVI andWMV, there may be others such as FLV, MOV and DivX. If your player cannot play a video then it is anincompatible video file format, then you need to convert that video file to aformat that your MP3 player uses. I just got my mp3 player and the directions in the package did not help! i had plugged it in and could not tell what to do from there!! what is this song bird that it is showin in the manual? What do I...

the mp3 player should have came with a cd the drivers, a media converter and Rhapsody. The drivers specifically tells windows how your mp3 player works and how to talk with it properly. The File Converter is for converting any of your files to a phillips gogear playable format (in case you have music in .acc or .ogg format, it will convert it to .mp3. You could always use winff to do this too) and Rhaposy is just a media player and media manager which Philips seems to want you to use to move your files over.
You can just drag and drop your mp3's by going to my computer, clicking on the new drive that appeals there when you connect it to the usb and just dragging and dropping them over to that drive.

I have added music to my son's player and then it says no files found??? what can be wrong???

Hi,

The 2 possible reasons may be:

1) you have copied it into the wrong destination. Some players demand users to copy the music into a specific folder like "music" folder. Try to get the location to already playable music and then copy new songs to that location

2) May be the format of the songs you are copying is not suitable to the player. Try referring to the manual of the player and then convert the format using XmediaRecode software.

Hope this solves your problem.

I can't download the music to mp3

The songs you are trying to load are in the wrong format - converting them to mp3 format will do the trick:

For every type of file other than WMA, the format error is pretty straightforward. You are trying to load a completely incompatible file format that is not recognized by the Mp3 player. To give you an example, there are currently no Philips GoGear Mp3 players that will load songs from the iTunes music service. The reason they will not transfer or play correctly is that the GoGear is that iTunes gives the users their songs in .AAC format. The GoGear cannot recognize .AAC format. To resolve this problem, you will have to convert the AAC song file into Mp3 format, or some other format that the GoGear recognizes (Note to the law-abiding: converting a copyright protected file into another format might be illegal. If you are concerned, I would just re-download the same song in Mp3 or another recognized file format – this will require a separate music service other than iTunes, in this example).

The newest line of GoGear's is almost a step backwards for Philips - many of them do not recognize DRM-encryption. The only solution is to get a WMA to Mp3 Converter, or to redownload the songs in Mp3 format. Yahoo Music uses DRM-encrypted WMA files on their service - this player cannot read them.
