A friend sends links thru e-mails. When I open the link, in the e-mail, IE opens, a box where the picture should have been shows up; but it is just an outline with a small X in the upper left hand corner of the box instead of the picture. How can I make it so that my computer will display the picture?

Re: unable to view pictures in IE7
Try to install java from Java.com. Restart after installation then try again.
If it didnt work. reset IE's settings. For Internet explorer 6, go to Tools>Internet Options>Security. then click Reset Web Settings. Also, go to Tools>Internet Options>Advanced. Then click restore defaults.
For Internet Explorer 7, go to Tools>options>advanced. then click 'REset".

Start by composing an e-mail to your friend. Look for a 'paper clip' icon on the e-mail page. Click on it. A Windows Explorer window will open up. On that window navigate to the directory where you have the pictures on your Sandisk. Select the pictures you want to send to your friend and than click on the 'Open' box in the Windows Explorer window. The window will close and you will be back to your e-mail where you can see the pictures as attachments. Click on the 'Send' button.
Try this option
On the Tools menu, click to de-select the option Compatibility View.On the Tools menu, click Compatibility View Settings.Check if mail.yahoo.com is listed in the "Websites you've added to Compatibility View", remove if present.Make sure the "Display all websites in Compatibility View" check box is un-checked, and then click Close.
There are two main theme in yahoomail, one is "Classic" and the other is "All New Mail"
To attach file/photo from classic, Click new or compose and look carefully just below the "subject" bar, there you'll see a button "Attach File", to attach file, click on the button, browse the file and follow the instructions.
Similar procedures for the "All New Mail", the difference is only the "attach file" button location, after you've opened the compose or new, look at the top columns, you'll see, "Send" "Attach" etc,, just above the "To" box.
I hope this helps. Good luck,
Thanks for using FixYa.
This is a known issue with the New version Yahoo Mail. As a workaround to this problem, you can switch to the older version of Yahoo Mail (Yahoo Mail Classic)
To switch to Yahoo! Mail Classic (Old Yahoo), on your Yahoo Mail page click the "Options" link in the upper right corner between "Help" and "Mobile", then click the "Switch to Yahoo! Mail Classic" link.
A dialog box might appear asking for feedback. If it does, click "Switch to Yahoo! Mail Classic".
CHECK THE INTERNET CONNECTION AND MAKE SURE THAT YOUR CONNECTED. OPEN INTERNT EXPLORE AND GOTO:
MAKE SURE THAT THE AUTOMATICALLY DETECT SETTINGS BOX IS CHECKED AND CLICK OK......
HOPE THIS HELPS
SPRINT - You must have you phone setup linked to an active email acount (i.e. yahoo, etc)
(New Picture) When you take a picture, tap on the envelope icon. \/
(Picture from file) Select and view picture from file explorer. Once open select send in the lower left corner. \/
The option for sending the picture comes up. Click send via email (not picture mail). This opens your email menu, select the correct email account to send from. Once the compose email page opens, simply type the email address and send.
note: to send to another phone you must know the address in which the cell company uses. Some are:
- Sprint - (phonenumber)@pm.sprint.com
- US cellular - (phonenumber)@mms.uscc.net
- ATT - (phonenumber)@mms.att.net
I had this problem on a Fusic (LX-550). The error occurs because a
picture mail is corrupted that you're currently trying to preview
(inbox). The Fusic inbox shows 3 pic mails at a time. If one of the
three is bad, you'll get that error. If the bad pic mail is the most
recent in the inbox, then send 3 pic mails to yourself to bump the bad
one to number 4. This should allow you to get to your inbox without the
error, although you still have to avoid the bad pic mail page(move up
in the inbox to see you're oldest mail). Sending pic mails to yourself
one at a time is one method of narrowing down the bad pic mail. The
permanent fix is to install bitpim, edit->detect phone,
view->view file system, navigate to /EPM/MediaStore/MessageStore and
delete the offending pic mail. The file name with the highest number is
probably most recent. Right click on the file and perform a hex dump to
read the message time stamp. Do a backup first and view the hexdump to
verify you're deleting a pic mail file. Good luck!
