A friend sends links thru e-mails. When I open the link, in the e-mail, IE opens, a box where the picture should have been shows up; but it is just an outline with a small X in the upper left hand corner of the box instead of the picture. How can I make it so that my computer will display the picture?
I had the same problem then I updated java and bingo the pictures came back also when asked to allow the site I clicked always allow

Try to install java from Java.com. Restart after installation then try again.
If it didnt work. reset IE's settings. For Internet explorer 6, go to Tools>Internet Options>Security. then click Reset Web Settings. Also, go to Tools>Internet Options>Advanced. Then click restore defaults.
For Internet Explorer 7, go to Tools>options>advanced. then click 'REset".

Here's a link to this great service
Good luck!

I had already tried loading java, so compared my ver with current and they were the same. After carefully copying the status of all settings and resetting as you suggested... it made no difference. So I reset all the things in advanced tools that I had changed. Is it possible that the e-mail sender is doing something wrong when attaching?
